We always have an absolutely amazing experience at Assateague National Seashore. This year, though, we were incredibly sad to find out that there are no lifeguards for the foreseeable future. This was deeply upsetting, as we have small children, and find great comfort from the presence of the lifeguards. We hope that next year when we return, the lifeguards will be back.

The nature and overall experience was great. I loved swimming in the ocean and the birdwatching is unparalleled. We loved how comprehensive the visitors center was. It was fun for all ages. The horses were everywhere, and were fun to look at. Knocking off a star because of the campsite bathrooms. These were by far the most unpleasant weve ever used. The building doubles as a bad weather shelter. I cant imagine having to stay huddled up in one. If youre a tent camper be warned.

The trails - Marsh Trail, Forest Trail, and Dunes Trail - are completely different and each provides a unique and informative experience. We saw lots of wildlife, especially birds. Campgrounds are clean and well-kept. Was grateful for the generator-free loop. All in all we had a beautiful and peaceful time.

Stay at loop B site B27. Monday May 24 through Thursday May 27, 2021. Lots of bushes and trees for shade. Pull through spot. It was very quiet by 9:30pm. Stayed during the week and not crowded. Mostly young family, couples, retirees. Camped by myself and felt safe to sleep at night. Lots of cardinals nesting in the bushes at my site. Saw white tail deer, rabbits, and of course horses in Loop B. 3 horses came through my camp site a half an hour after I set up camp (around 7:00PM) I had to sit in my car and eat dinner. They just were their for the grass. Didnt bother my tent. Loop B is a no generator section, so no big RVs. Mostly tents, camper vans, and towable RVs. Bring warm clothes and bedding because it gets cold at night. Had no issues with ticks, black flies, or mosquitoes. Only problem was just regular flies getting into my car when I opened the door.

Tons of Mosquitos (stayed on the bay side) but still a very enjoyable trip. Very affordable kayak rentals as well. Nice views of horses and peaceful beaches, never too crowded.

This was our first time here. A fun experience with the beach and the horses. We enjoyed the bike paths which took us along the beach and then over the causeway. Just be prepared to deal with some bugs which come out thick at dusk. Were definitely coming back in the Fall.

Mobile Data Speed Map

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
