Lovely place but we were very unlucky and got stormed out by Hurricane Erin. The park was just at the top of the reach. Day 1 we got rained out and departed for a hotel. Had soaking wet equipment. Day 2 was clear and we got to go kayaking on the Bay side, which was lovely. Day 3 storms returned and the ocean was terrifying, all the way up to the Boardwalk in Ocean City. We left quickly. That's camping for you. A lovely park, we just had the one bad week.

Loved everything about Assateague Island. Only thing that I think could be improved is to have a seperate entrance line for campers to come and go during the course of the day. It was too long a wait to come back in the campground while waiting for day trips to pay..

Lots of activities to do! Definitely recommend exploring the different paths and trails in the park and the guided 2 hour kayak tour was 10/10! Our guide was great and so knowledgeable and we saw lots of wildlife and learned a lot about the island and marsh. Cant wait to come back!

We love Assateague! The weather was awesome and we saw ponies, turkeys, deer, rabbits, racoons, and a bald eagle! It was a great trip, as always!

We really liked out spot on the bay side, but far away from beach. Then next night we had a beach spot, but was a walk in. I had been told it was right off the walk and easy to take out stuff to. It was not, because I have issues with my feet, and had a hard time talking stuff to our spot. We left most in the car. The bathrooms are also pretty far away from the walk-in spots. It was definitely beautiful though and look forward to our next trip! (With the new knowledge).

Went to observe galaxies with a large telescope. The Marsh View parking lot turned out to be an ideal spot. During the day I enjoyed bike riding and beach walking. The B loop with no generators was a great option. Staff was helpful and friendly.

It's a beautiful campground. We stayed in loop B on the bayside. The sites were nicely sized. The bathrooms were always clean. I saw some reviews that complained about the bugs...when you're camping near marshes, bugs come with the territory. We camped in March and didn't need to put up our bug net. When we've been here in the summer, a bug net and spray kept most of the mosquitos away. While the racoons were bold, the horses are bolder! The horses frequent the campsites looking to snatch food. If you're new to camping here, make sure you have all of your food in containers/coolers that lock or have latches (there is storage underneath the picnic tables if your cooler doesn't lock). The people across from us opened their trunk to start unpacking, and a horse walked over and took their food bag right out of the trunk. That horse and his friends wouldn't let anyone near the bag until they finished eating everything. As long as you come prepared for high winds / storms, bugs, and horses, you'll have a great time!
