Horses were roaming about. Staff was cleaning up. Restrooms were clean. Potable water was available as were dump sites. Dumpsters were available for trash. Only negative was the RV parked across from us started their generator at 11pm (in violation of posted quiet time) and startled us out of sleep! Highly recommend visiting Assateague Island!

Horses everywhere! Came right through camp, but not as nuisances. Beautiful experience! Sadly, mosquitoes everywhere, too. Less beautiful.

We stayed on the bayside. It was beautiful! Mosquitoes 24/7 so bug spray with DEET was a must. First night there, we lit a fire to hangout and make s’mores with the kids. We made two s’mores when 3 horses joined us, I’m assuming because the smoke kept the bugs off them. That was the end of the s’mores but we got to watch the horses up close and personal as they spent the night at our site. All of the workers including the hosts and camp store were very friendly.

Sites were nicely sized & spaced out. Quiet and well kept campground. Beach and trails within walking distance. Horses will enter your campsite so food items need to be securely stored.

Always a great time on the island. Mid Summer with the bugs and heat is a different story but fall is beautiful

We set the tent on the bayside which is a nice spot, quiet place, the toilet are pretty rudimentary but fair enough in the middle of nature. Woke up with horses right in-front of the tent: really neat! Don’t forget the mosquito repellent: those guys are hungry

Amazing visit! We saw the wild ponies daily, other campers social distanced and/or wore masks and the scenery was awesome.. The only downside which likely applies only to the RV loops that are oceanside: The grassy area is covered in tiny burs (imagine a tiny spike ball). They are super painful and the tips very sharp. We had to be very mindful of where we walked the dogs on the grass. They would freeze in place if one got stuck in their paws and getting it out often resulted in it getting stuck in our fingers. It's manageable, just be mindful. There was a birds nest with 4 eggs in it on the ground next to our camp site (so watch your step). Between the bird parents coming and going to take shifts with the eggs, the wild horses strolling through and the deer we spotted, it felt like such a perfectly immersive experience surrounded by nature. If you walk your dogs down to the beach (from the oceanside loops) bring water as the fountains/showers/etc. were not working by the beach. Aside from these tips, prepare for the perfect getaway! ;-)

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
