Cobbled together a 4 night stay in 3 adjacent campsites. Site 56, 52 and 54. I had last been camping here about 15 years ago and the sites are very small with less privacy compared to what they used to be, however, it's still an absolutely lovely place to spend a beach trip. Site 54 sat at a high spot on the dune with 56 just slightly to the right side and site 52 to the left side and in front of 54. One of the picnic table latches was completely out of alignment and couldn't be used to secure food. I was fortunate to have taken a latched trunk.

I camped with my wife and two kids ages 5 and 7. We loved being right on the beach and seeing the sunset, sunrise, and stars. Our campsite (#54 I think) was on a slightly higher point which gave nice views, but it lacked a flat area large enough for our tent. I would suggest bringing a rake or snow shovel so you can make sure you can flatten out a spot for your tent. The distance to walk in was short, but the part through the sand was difficult in the deep soft sand. All in all we loved our experience and hope to come back.

First time camper and had an amazing time at our Oceanside Walk in site!! It was a short walk from the parking area. I would strongly recommend bringing bug spray since the mosquitos there are BRUTAL. Was able to see plenty of wild horses throughout our stay. We will be camping here again next year!

I love Assateague Island, it is a great place to camp. I did feel that the ranger that checked us in did a poor job of informing us about the raccoon problem. I spoke with some other campers that had their food supply taken by raccoons on their first night as we had as well!

***Bring bug spray*** Beautiful beach, isolated campsites, friendly staff - bathrooms were a little grim, but hey! We had a lovely time!
