We had a lot of fun, it wasnt too far of a walk to the Oceanside campsite. The bugs werent too terrible except for like in the marshy sections. Didnt have any issues with the ponies being nosey or anything.

Great spot and would definitely would consider going back. We were in the beachside sites with remote parking. It is fairly primitive with pit toilets and cold only showers to rinse off. We enjoyed being on the row closest to the beach, and it was pretty empty so we didnt have neighbors. If you go when its busier, the next row in has a bit of shrubbery and the sites appear slightly more spaced out.

I was glad that you removed the site numbers from the parking spots. It was one more rule to follow and honestly not necessary. I was able to get a spot near my site entrance with no difficulty. The camp host was very friendly and provided rule reminders instead of being aggressive. The whole camping experience was friendly and enjoyable.

Spacious campsite with clean facilities. Dog friendly and did not experience any issues with bugs this time of year (April). Appreciate the park service and look forward to returning again next year!

I give it a 4 because our family is new to camping using tents and the experience was somewhat uncomfortable personally. Apart from that, the NP as such deserves a 5. The facilities were better than I thought. The bathrooms did not stink, they were clean and they had their toilet paper. The showers worked very well. The facilities were very clean, as was the beach. The rangers were around during the day and if the horses were near the area of the stalls they stayed in the area ensuring our safety. That day there were not many mosquitoes. Which seems to be lacking in food and seeing fresh meat quickly went to where one to bite us even so with everything and repellent. I only saw one fly sand on the beach. The walk in ocean view area is very well distributed and the areas are wide enough that you are not close to the other camping areas. During the night it was a bit cold and in the morning it was very cool. Seeing the sunrise from there was beautiful. Assateague is beautiful. Its white sand and the sea filled my expectations. We are a family from the Caribbean where our beaches are beautiful, blue and calm. Of all the beaches we have visited since we moved to MD this is the most beautiful of all. During the night the sky was clear and we could appreciate the stars and the milky way. We also saw the starlink satellites which was impressive with all those stars in the sky.

Making reservations was so easy and shopping centers were not far from the park. Assateague Island beach was clean, the ocean water clear and the campsites were easy to access. The view of the ocean from our campsite was spectacular and there was plenty of room between sites. It was really an awesome way to get close to nature; the wild ponies were close in proximity and were discovered lying on the beach in the morning with the sun rising over the water and meandering among people visiting their habitat. Assateague Island was simply paradise.

We camped on an oceanside lot. The bugs didn't bother us at all at our site due to this. The water was beautiful. At low tide we found tons of intact large seashells. Bayside has a beautiful sunset. We took bikes and felt safe doing so. The horses know they are boss on this island lol keep everything in the under table storage or they will get it. One even got into the trunk of a ladies car while packing to leave and ate all her snacks through thr bags. They are not afraid of you. I hope to take more family and go again next summer. It was a lot of fun.

Assateague is a magical place and we try to go once every year. This year, my sister and I reserved two tent sites next to each other. She left two days early and but we stayed. There was a couple that came two evenings in a row to cook, eat, use the firepit in her site. They stayed well past midnight both times, but I would not see them in the morning there. Based on this experience, we felt unsafe. This camp site does not have security 24/7 to validate each visitor like the MD state side. I knew this before but it seems like others easily take advantage of the gaps in security which can pose any number of risk to the campers and wildlife.

Assateague Island is beautiful and friendly. The rangers were helpful in providing camp site information. Other rangers were friendly as they made their rounds through the camp areas. This was first time camping in 25 years. I highly recommend Assateague Island.

It was a great experience! If you're not staying at a drive-up campsite, bring a cart for your stuff that is easy to pull over sand. It will make life so much easier.
