The campground is lovely with easy access to the beach. However, the only way to get to this site is by walking through at least one other campsite, which felt odd, and a little invasive, particularly in the evening.

This was a great location. It was a bit exposed during high winds from Hurricane Lee. The walk in and up to this is lenghtier than we anticipated and probably wouldn't choose this site again but it did have fast beach access and it was gorgeous.

Amazing experience camping on the beach at Assateague and waking up to a cool breeze and wildlife. Be sure to bring a wagon with sand wheels for carrying gear to and from the walk-in sites. Pop-up canopy is also a must for shade. Bring a hatchet to split local firewood into smaller pieces. Secure food at all times and watch out for roaming horses who will do anything to find and eat it. They are like big racoons, and there's not much you can do about it. Quick, easy meals without a lot of preparation and cleanup are best to avoid these unwanted dinner (and breakfast) guests. Overall, a great experience and will plan to return!

We had a great trip. The facilities were clean and all staff was helpful. For some reason, the water pumps were not working in our campsite of 10 sites. I thought maybe they hadn't been turned on yet, but they were working at the site one down from us. Some of the signage for site numbers were not clear. This wasn't an issue for us, but one couple had a lot of trouble finding one site that was tucked away and I was lucky to have found it for them. I would recommend getting in before dark. The horses came and visited every day and if they arrived while you were eating, you'd lose your food. We were lucky and also had good storage containers. There were clever picnic tables that you can store a cooler underneath and a rubbermaid bin and tie or lock the doors shut.

Site 47 is just behind two sets of dunes, but in view and earshot of the ocean off to the north. Everyone - young and old - was quiet and friendly and the young folks at the campsite nearest us came over to help when our fire was recalcitrant. Everything was clean and beautiful. I wouldn't mind a warm shower, but it's probably how they keep rates down. Great day trips to quaint town of Berlin. In season, there's kayak rental on the bayside. Be careful of whom you buy firewood from. My Mom was truly right: cheap is as cheap does.
