This was a great experience. The miles of undeveloped beach is something that is becoming extinct in today's world. Definitely worth experiencing. I loved hanging out with a small group of ponies just chilling down the beach from me. They hung out there for hours. People randomly circling all around them with cameras didn't phase them one bit. It was great. The sand was beautiful. The campsite was great. Way more private than I thought it would be too. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Beautiful campsites. We were at walk-in site #45 (short sandy walk past several other sites), but nothing we couldn’t handle with 2 young kiddos. Well worth the quiet evenings and gorgeous sunrises AND sunsets. The bathrooms were clean and, although it seemed to be off season and the welcome center was closed, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Definitely bring the long sand stakes!

Very few other places where you can sleep this close to the surf. From some sights you can even see the crashing waves from your tent. The sound is very soothing. All the warnings about bugs are true; the biting flies, the swarming mosquitos, the no-seeums that can make it through tent mesh. Bring bug spray and incense but the bugs don't bother you on the beach or beachside campsites so if you're in the first row of sites off the beach you'll be ok in camp.

Always love it here! Be prepared for lots of wind and chilly nights if you come in early April. Also make sure to have sand stakes (the ones you can twist in the ground) if you are staying ocean-side. In addition, note that dogs are not allowed on the trails, but you can walk with them on the road and the beach all you want.
