Campsite 104 was excellent! Private and serene. The horses showed up every night at sunset and were on the prowl for food. Use the boxes and keep them locked! We often saw them in the morning too. The birds tried to raid the storage box (they can fit through the slats) so keep you food covered! The flies were vicious- horse flies, no see ums, gnats - you name it. It was still worth it. Even DEET did not work. Sunrise on the beach was magical. Fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The stars were not blocked by light pollution. Bring a tarp/screen house for shade. Dont bother with the tiny metal stakes that come with your tent. Invest in some good ones and bury them to keep your tent secure because there is a constant breeze. Stop by the visitor center and watch both films. We loved the nature walks on the bayside. I will definitely be back!

cold and windy but made for a great hike down the beach instead of laying out. horses were all over and majestic as always!

It's a bit of a walk to get to, but it's a great spot. Fairly secluded, you'll only have one neighbor who shouldn't be close enough to bother you. The site is right on the dunes, so wind will be a concern. You can see the ocean from your tent, if you're looking to camp on the beach this is a premier spot. Personally, I found it difficult to sleep hearing the waves all night, though other people have said the sound is soothing and helps them sleep.

Bonfire with bratwurst and some beers before bed. Woke up to the sound of horses neighing and the early morning sunrise over the beach. Absolutely beautiful. Only con being the walk from the car.

I love this campground and will definitely be coming back again! I would highly recommend going on the weekdays as it is generally less packed. If you get site 104, park at the very end of the lot and use the walkway near the trash rather than walking through the sand.

Great Weather!

Beautiful as ever, thank you, through chilly gusts and rain, thick fog and then sunshine. We enjoy the semi-seclusion of tenting in the dunes with our dog, and kept dry!. The campsite was quite clean. Other campers very friendly. Facilities clean.
We collected trash (balloons, styrofoam, plastic, bottles, basketball) that collected down the shore during our walks. How about a signs encouraging folks to collect trash during their walks. It's actually calming to clean up the shore.
