My gf and I stayed 2 nights on the beach. I would say it is 80-100 yard walk from the parking lot through the sand. I highly recommend brining something to pull all of your gear. I brought my ice fishing sled and pulled everything to site. It was very windy so I recommend bringing sand stakes for sure. The horses did come visit us so if that's what your looking for this site is perfect. I have Verizon and my gf has AT&T and both had service at camp.

Beautiful campsite and lots of wild horses about. Make sure you lock up your coolers, they are crafty little critters.

The place is near idyllic. My only complaint is the porta potties really stink. Sometimes the volunteers can be a bit invasive when you really just want to be left alone. We didn't really have any problems with mosquitoes or biting flies at this time of year. My daughter and grandson and I had a wonderful time on the beach and in the ocean. The environment is wonderful family-friendly and all of the neighboring campers became our friends. I don't want to give the place too good of a review because there's already way too much competition for these campsites.

Camping directly on the beach, Amazing! It is a bit of a walk in the sand from the car to set up so be prepared for that, but it is worth all the work and once set up it is Heaven!

It's lovely to camp right on the beach. Most of the other campers are so welcoming and nice, and the view of the sunrise from your tent can't be beat. The showers and vault toilets are kept in great shape, and the rangers keep an eye out for people in need (like the young people who needed a jump of their car late at night after the strong storm). It's nice to visit the Life of the Forest and Life of the Marsh trails, and to watch the sunset and do some crabbing at the Old Ferry Landing. Highly recommended for a summer outing, but please be prepared and read up on the challenges of setting up a tent on the beach, and always keep a close eye on the weather.

As novice campers, we didn't stay over night because of rain and wind. Awesome site though!

Walkin beach campsites are too close together
