This is the 2nd time we are camping here. It was nostalgic as we returned back here after 10 years. We were lucky we got oceanside campsite available at the last minute. Our campsite was number 86. Its a nice site- closer to the parking lot and toilet and a little walk to the beach. The toilets and shower areas were clean. We didnt see any horses come into the campsite at night/ during the day. Would definitely come camp here again next summer. The bugs and mosquitoes were a lot, inspite of using deet bug repellent we still had bug bites. But no complaints about it.

very difficult to get a reservations. too much demand, but then there are many sites not occupied while visiting. i believe reservation system needs to get better for cancellations and enabling re-booking of the sites. also i believe recycling should be easier. so much is just thrown away. hopefully, the recyclables gets picked out at a transfer station.

I love going camping here. Camping beach side was beautiful, but the sand in everything was a little bit much. Overall great trip.

This place is gorgeous, and has always been a fun weekend trip for me and my partner. It is never crowded, and it is always beautiful walking along the seashore on a moonlit night. The horses are a real treat, but this particular time we went, they bullied us and ate our food. We did NOT leave food unattended, but as soon as I put the food down on the table, there were four horses right behind me. I got out of the way to give them space, and they just all ate our food. Our neighbors seeing this, were brave enough to shoe them away and hit them with sticks. But I don't know what I was supposed to do differently.

June 2022 was our 7th beach camping trip at Assateague National Seashore. We love camping here - everything from watching the sunrise over the ocean to stargazing at night beside the firepit. A highlight of the 2022 trip was that we saw more wild horses! They are fun to watch from a distance and atop the picnic table when they decide to stroll through the campsite. We pre-pack most of our meals to cook on the beach (OSV) or at the campsite, but we do enjoy a trip to Crabs to Go (Berlin) and Island Creamery (Downtown Berlin). Spending the day, or a few days, at Assateague National Seashore offers an amazing experience to reconnect with nature, birds, and other wildlife.

My only negative comment would be the entrance gate. There should be a separate lane for cars who have already paid for their pass. Other than that, our family have an absolutely wonderful vacation camping on the beach! The toilet and shower facilities were clean. The campsites were spaced far apart for seclusion. The beach and horses were amazing! We are already planning our vacation on Assateague for next year. If you haven't yet visited this piece of paradise, I highly recommend a trip to where the horses run wild on the sand.

I absolutely love Assateague island. It was 40 degrees with 40 mph wind and i loved every minute of camping here. Being so close to the ocean sleeping on the sandy beach with wild ponies wandering around was a delight. I ache to come back! There is something truly magical about assateague.
