I Love assateague! So pristine and uncrowded like other beaches. Oceanside campsites are the best! What a treasure!

Had an amazing time. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Booking and stuff was super easy. I will definitely be returning.

There are so many things to do in the island. I definitely recommend renting bikes and exploring that way. You can cover a lot more ground that way. The trails are lovely. The on-site shops are perfect for last minute camping needs and wood for fires.

I was lucky enough to be visited by horses both nights I was there. Truly an amazing experience. Definitely checked a bucket list item!

Clean campsite and so many utilities accessible. Rented bikes and super easy to do. Campsite location was not where we expected based on pictures and maps and super nice spot!

Mosquitos ate us alive at site 77 on oceanside. Still a 5 star awesome experience. My own fault not wearing enough bug spray after swimming!! It stormed over night but we were prepared for a storm with our tent and rain accessories. Check in was easy. Mainly cuz I know wat to do already for check in and for rules. I used to work there but never camped there while I worked there. The showers in August were cool showers and spacious for a family to go into a stall that was outdoor and private. Don't forget to bring a lantern to shower or a standup light otherwise u will be showering in the dark and the humidity will call u into the shower

Camping with my family of four, we had a great time. Assateague Island is a beautiful and relaxing place to hit the sand and surf. The facilities are mostly great with adequate toilets, functioning showers, and access to potable water, trash, recycling, etc. That said, there are some safety issues that NPS could / should take care of. Specifically, there is rusted wiring / fencing that runs between the beach and campgrounds. It’s broken, completely useless and, in many parts, completely covered by sand. I think, from visiting years ago, there used to be some vegetation that the fencing protected. That vegetation is now long gone and the fences are in complete disrepair. Despite our best attempts to carefully pick our way through that area going to and from the water (we have a 5 y/o and 8 y/o that we instructed to “follow our footsteps” every time we went through), my wife stepped on a piece of rusted wire that was buried in the sand. The wire broke the skin and we ended up at an urgent care clinic for a tetanus booster. Overall, it was a great camping experience and we will go back, but we’ll make sure to make the trek around the rusted wiring and only use what used to be walkways to get to and from the water.

Best vacation ever, plan for sun, bugs, and how to lug all your gear over sand.
