Very nice campsite that's right next to the beach (as in, this campsite is facing the beach with no other campsites in front of it). Didn't use the fire ring to start a campfire, although it appeared to be in good condition. There's an area under the table where you can store food and other belongings that might attract wildlife, although it did have a fair amount of sand in it.I didn't use the showers. Bathrooms seemed to be relatively clean.I also had very weak cellular data at this campsite, although there's decent cellular coverage as you get closer to the entrance area. One note about parking: I did find that the parking lot that came before the parking lot meant for this campsite was closer to this campsite than the designated parking lot.

Another great stay!! Love the upgraded picnic tables that really help us detract the horses and other wild life. Bathrooms and showers super clean. Check in staff friendly and knowledgeable. Would have loved this trip a little more over site about campers setting up after dark- but it makes sense for the heat - just too loud. Thank you park service employees for all the care you place in assisting us campers to have a great safe stay in such an incredible place!

The Park Rangers and assisting staff are excellent to meet and very helpful. The eagerness to teach and help kids who ask questions made for a delightful experience and really shows how much everyone at the park cares about what they do.The showers are in what appears to be the best repair the staff can give them but it appears indicating the best job staff can perform with operating expenses but it is showing that capital expenses are not being provided to the park and staff are doing the best than can with what they have. Please consider better ways to finance the park and the mission the staff fulfill. We are lucky to have the parks and the people that decide to dedicate themselves to these parks. Let's take care of both and support them for today and the future.Again, my kid loves visiting and the staff make a wonderful park come alive with details and information he enjoys learning about.

Id rate it as superb. From the facilities to the staff. They are very warm, welcoming and informative. This is my second time camping here and will certainly be coming back in the near future

The rangers were so helpful and really nice! We stayed in several areas of Assateague which was a fun experience. The morning walks with the sunrise are gorgeous. We can’t wait to go back!

We love this place ❣️Snow sleds are your friend for bringing your gear across the soft sand.

First time I've ever woken up with a view of the surf while tent camping. Great fun and a very short walk to the water.

Campsite was beautiful! We had near perfect weather, saw horses and enjoyed a beach day. The facilities were clean. The campsite (Oceanside 076) is a bit of the walk from the parking lot and we had three kids under 7 with us but it was doable as long as you were willing to take a couple of trips back to the car ;)

The walk in oceanside campsites were absolutely beautiful and fellow campers friendly. Horses were hanging around camp and the beach which was amazing. You really have your own private piece of beach. The bathrooms were relatively close and clean. We had heard a lot of people warn us about bugs but besides some biting black flies one day, we didn't have any problems. If we go again, I would DEFINITELY bring a wagon to cart all the camping gear from the car to the campsite which was a lot of work by hand.

Most beautiful campsite on a pristine beach. So grateful for the National Park Service!

When we first arrived, the bathrooms were appalling- perhaps because it was a monday and that weekend had been extra busy but regardless, in the heat of summer, the stench was just too strong. The next day, they finally cleaned the bathrooms and were much more useable. Other than that, this campsite was absolutely breathtaking. Camping by the beach is a unique experience that I would recommend to everyone. Our campsites were the farthest from the parking space, and it was such a struggle to bring all of our stuff, but it was so worth waking up to the sounds of the beach.

It was beautiful as usual! I did notice people running on the vegetated dunes, which I don't think you are supposed to. The police were there once each evening which kept noise in check. We did notice a lot of raccoon tracks all over our campsite in the mornings but our food was put away. The bathrooms got very disgusting at night but were cleaned promptly in the morning.

What a gorgeous place. If you are fit and a minimalist camper the walk-in beach camping is amazing. It’s a slice of heaven surrounded by dunes, listening to the surf hit the beach, enjoying the fearless pony’s who WILL check out your campsite for goodies (just step away and enjoy them from a distance and don’t leave goodies out for them to steal). We will definitely be returning- but we are not fit and not minimalist, so next time we’ll camp at a drive-in spot. 🙂
