There have been some changes to the camping experience this year.
One is that they assigned designated parking according to camp spot but the parking spaces are located in a lot other than where my camping space is. It does not work for packing and unpacking the car. I was unpacking my car and came back after a run to find a warning violation on the windshield to go the office to rectify. Very upsetting and it was like they were criminalizing camping. Very negative experience.
Secondly the National Park pass is now assigned to two people listed on the card to enter the park. So when my daughter went outside the park for supplies I had to meet her at the gate to get my family back into the park. These changes make the park less user friendly.
Thirdly I was over the dune walking the dog and I came back to the campsite where another ticket said my camp stove needed to be under the table to avoid horse interactions. I am thankful for the bins to store food under the table safely but honestly a ticket for a clean shut down camp stove. Let's get back to a friendly non-militant experience.
Other than this new management approach of criminalization of campers, it was a beautiful and a lovely time. I have been camping here for over 30 years and I still love the place and the experience in nature.

I think you should raise the fine for feeding or getting to close to horses to 500$ and enforce it!!

reserve early, ocean side better, as close to beach as possible, be prepared for the mosquitos.

My family spent a few days this summer at Assateague Island National Seashore campground. It was a wonderful experience. The campsite was oceanfront with a beautiful view. The fire pit and table were in good shape. The showers and toilets were clean and maintained. Assateague is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean!
