Be ready to do a lot of carrying if you are camping on the beach. But its worth it!

We had an excellent time and my children (11 & 13) loved their experience. The horses were everywhere so do leave food inside the car as some people werent doing that and got ambushed by the horses! So funny but they lost all their food. Being directly by the beach is amazing. Site was clean and everyone kind and respectful. Definitely a must for unforgettable memories. Nighttime brings out the mosquitoes so socks, long sleeves and pants a must with some bug repellent a must. The wind can and will pickup so have everything nice and sturdy.

We found Assateague Island to be clean, quiet and relaxing. It provided a space for us to relax and rejuvenate our mind, body and soul. We will be back

What an incredible experience to wake up with the horses, really! At 5:30am three horses came poking around our site on their way to the water. The oceanside sites are incredible. Though many do not have direct views of the water, you can still hear it for sure. The walk from the car is a little bit of work, with the sand, so consider packing lightly and/or be aware you’ll have stuff to haul (we didn’t think this through ourselves!). I am looking forward to coming back for sure.

Was absolutely beautiful. It was really nice having the beach to ourselves. Off season is definitely the time to go. Saw more horses than we did people on the first day. It was also a nice surprise to find that the park is pet friendly. Didn't realize it at the time but the next time we come down we will be bringing our dog with us! Definitely another bonus of the off season camping is the lack of insects. Cooler temperatures and mild and windy nights make for fantastic sleeping weather. We had a bit of rain in the evening after we set up our tent, but we were dry and comfortable. The Life of the Forest Trail is a really nice hike with a kid. Only disappointment was that a couple of the interpretive signs were weathered so they were rendered difficult to read. Other than that, we would highly recommend the camping here. Bathrooms were also super clean.

Had a wonderful time with my wife and our dog in the 6 hours we were there prior to tropical storm fay rolling in and making things less than ideal for our first visit. After spending a sleepless night cuddling in the tent, wondering if wed be lifted away to neverland, we packed our bags and gear in the downpour around 6 am and headed home. 5 stars cant wait to come back!

Amazing experience. We went there last September and it was little bit chilly. Still great memory.

My husband and I stayed for our anniversary, it was absolutely beautiful. When night was coming we had some very nice neighbors who helped us get out fire started. Once it was time for bed, we had some not so great neighbors who were camping in the wrong spot. Were playing a flute and singing till 12am. Continued to walk through our sight all night being loud and shinning their flashlight into our tent. Did not get a good night's sleep, was hoping for a nice relaxing get away. Checked out the next morning and into a hotel. Due to no fault of the park but disrespectful people.
