Be aware that after rainfall or during humid seasons some camping sites and the access paths located behind the dunes are flooded by water gathering/surfacing in the lower terrain. If not covered by pools of water, the sand is very wet and not practical/comfortable for camping.

Nice spot, good nature. Not really shady, but beautiful in the dunes

Camped two nights in an oceanside walk-in site in late October 2021. Overall a beautiful setting and a great break from my city life. I was worried about temps and rain but it didn't turn out to be much of a bother. In general I kept between two to three layers of clothes, though on the last day the sun made it possible to go to shorts and long sleeves. A rain storm threatened the second evening but ended up perfectly coinciding with the time we would have been in the tent sleeping anyway. It kept us up but I enjoyed listening. The general mood of interaction with park employees and other campers was relaxed.I think coming late in the season changed the experience from the expectations I got from reading other reviews:Constant breeze kept biting insects away (didn't even open the bottle of high strength repellant that everyone advises). At no point did horses enter the campsite (we still were careful to store all edibles in the car). We did see them at other places in the park on trails and while entering exiting via the road.We made it 48 hours without showering (would have been cold) but did wipe down with rubbing alcohol a bit. Other things:did use a dustpan to collect sand in tentdid use screw stakes for tent (not rainfly), saw other people's stakes come out

Our experience was fantastic. We went in early May and saw lots of wild ponies (including newborn foals!) and birds. We highly recommend this campground
