A beautiful, special place and one of the true gems of our national parks system. Wait, maybe I shouldn't talk much about the glory of AINS... it's hard enough to get a campsite reservation as it is...

Got back from Assteague yesterday, going through withdrawals. I miss it sooo much! I was worried about mosquitoes and flies from what I read. NOTHING. None. We took our hammock and I slept under the bright bright stars in my hammock w/ ZERO bites. We also saw 2 shooting stars, it was beautiful. The white sand was extra soft to walk on but pretty hard when sleeping on it. Tons of cute fast ghost crabs emerges out the sand at night, prettt cool sight to see. Close to the bathrooms and since we had the corner area, we got 3 times the real estate than the other campers. Awesome neighbors. We helped eachother when needed and as people were leaving they kindly brought over extra wood they had left over, such a kind jester we of course kept it rolling when we left. Thanks Assteague, youre amazing.

Great atmosphere, and relaxing. Staff cleans daily. My only constructive advice would be to level out and dig out the picnic tables and fire pits. Some are leaning and buried 1/2 way in the sand. In addition the busted wooden fence should be replaced, it’s a hazard with wooden spikes poking out of the sand. Lastly the toilet vent is awful. When you are down wind of it, you can taste it. It’s ok inside the bathroom, just outside is foul. Otherwise great place, and friendly staff.

Love spring on Assateague! Warm days and cool nights. Bring your long tent stakes if beachside camping.

I only stayed one night at a walk-in site, and it was well worth it. The campground was easy to access and close to the designated parking area. It was on the sand and surrounded by a beautiful landscape and the beach, yet it was far enough from neighbors to feel you had some space. Toilet, outdoor showers, and potable water (must pump the handle) were very close by. Do make sure to use the storage area beneath the picnic table to store your food. Otherwise, the horses, which appear frequently, will rummage through your stuff as our neighbors discovered!

Its a beautiful place, we loved the experience sleeping under the stars with the horses. The only downside is the horse flies that BITE hard.

First timers here. Absolutely loved our weekend stay. Bathrooms were clean, our camp site was tucked behind a dune so it cut back on some of the wind. At night it was freezing (end of April) but we were well prepared. I loved the storage under the picnic tables...great use if space and keeping wildlife away from potential dangers. The horses, deers, dolphins, bunnies were great to see.

BEST beach camping experience our family ever has had. Nothing like Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of crashing waves, smell of ocean and seeing wildlife everywhere. Take us back already!

Total oasis. Clean campsites, friendly rangers and camp hosts. We had a mix up with our site but everyone helped sort it out.

Excellent camping in the beach. The restrooms at this set of sites were extremely clean in early April. Highly recommend!
