This park is wonderful. Check-in was straightforward and easy, as was navigating to our beach tent site. The toilets were well-maintained, and it appeared that the showers were too, but we didn't stay long enough to use them. The horses woke me up around 3 in the morning, but they didn't bother us or our stuff. My only complaint is the people driving through the park who stop in the middle of the road to take photos of the horses. Please be considerate and pull over to let others go by.

We always have a lovely time camping at Assateague, and this weekend was no exception! It's such a beautiful place to spend a weekend. Thank you to the Park Rangers for keeping things so clean and being helpful during our stay.

Campsite 97 was an ideal campsite right on the beach, as close to the ocean as you can get! It was conveniently close to the bathrooms and parking area without being too close. It was far enough from the dunes to not be totally plagued by mosquitoes as well. I loved the numbered, designated parking spots for most of the campsites. The showers were clean and spacious and the cool water felt amazing on a hot morning after dipping in the ocean. The horses were close by much of the night and right outside the campground on the beach at sunrise. They wandered through the campground during breakfast time, so we were glad we didnt have any food out. We saw a fox at night and Sika deer came through the campground in the morning.

If you want to go to OC and dont like crowds 10 am is best. On the Assateague side of the bridge our favorite restaurant is The Shark on the Harbor. Make a reservation in advance. Theres a movie theater with the most comfortable seats available at routes 50 and 611 if you need a break from the heat.

I love this place. Time flies by at the camp site. Easy lines of sight for the kids to wander, and the showers and water were working! (This is our first time where they were on, not sure if they get turned on a little later in the season and we have missed it previous trips.

Great location in the oceanside campground. Only problem was weather. Gusting winds that broke nearly every tent in every sight there. Can't really control for that.

I've been camping on Assateague for over 20 years. Some of these other campers will never learn regarding horse safety and properly securing food. Don't be that person. Secure your food! That includes dog food.

The horses are out of control raiding the campsites. Someone is going to get hurt.

Assateague is always an amazing place to camp. The beach is so empty and beautiful and seeing a wild pony is something I will never get tired of. The campsites have everything you need, some allow dogs, and the bathrooms are clean. Just be careful - no lifeguards.

Camped in October, no bugs and fewer people- had a big stretch of beach to ourselves.
