We had a campsite that you walked to, and I have Stage 3 heart failure so my husband had to do most of the work but we stayed two nights and loved it !! I will say pack light the sand kicked our butt and pack lots of deet we did buy the firewood for the park and it was wet so stop on the way in at the store also beware of all the horse poop, I didn't mind but I think they could do better it was all in front of restrooms and that was annoying to see people with Children trying to navigate!! But we had an amazing time and also enjoyed the horses on the beach for the day, the weather was gorgeous !!

Wish there would have been a sunny day. 6 days mostly cloudy. Wind is always expected so not a problem.

Great site! Secluded and close to the ocean.

One of our favourite campsites especially in spring before the sand flies arrive. We secured a protected site behind the first dune which was key to deal with the blowy weather.

Such a beautiful place—just incredible. The site we had was perfect—we slept to the sounds of the surf and were protected from the wind by dunes and scrub. The toilets and water source were well-maintained. This was my second time camping here, and I’m already planning for the third.

Make sure that all of your food is in lockable bins prior to putting them into the "secure" lockers under the picnic tables. The raccoons have found a way to get into the "lockers" and will be highly destructive. Bring twice as much deet as you think you will need especially if you aren't directly on the beach. Have the most amazing time as it truly is beautiful and a wonderful place to get away

Be prepared for storms. It makes a big difference. Mosquitos worst dawn and dusk and after rain. Smudge fires work well to keep them at bay. The racoons will come to visit at night. No accessible food, no problem.
Do get up at least once to see the sun rise. Enjoy the sunsets and the moon over the ocean.
Buy some clams at Watermans or Martins and have a clam feast at camp. Pick up some corn to go with it.
Go out to eat at least once. Enjoy the local restaurants.
Assateague is a great place. Enjoy yourselves.
