Beautiful beaches, nice campsites and biking. Loved seeing the horses. Finding locations of campsites and check in was a bit tricky initially. It would be great if there was better navigation tools, easier to find maps and office open hours/protocols posted! And dont forget extra long sand stakes for tents and rain fly! The summer rainstorms/wind come thru quickly and with fury even on otherwise perfect weather days.

The beach and horses were amazing. I really enjoyed the fact that the beach was not crowded. After visiting Ocean City, it was so relaxing at the park.

We have been coming to Assateague to camp for almost thirty years and love it. During our most recent trip in mid-May, we noticed that the bathrooms were very smelly. I'm not sure if they are being cleaned regularly anymore, but it was noticeable stinky and it wasn't even hot out. We were in a walk-in oceanside campground.

Camping on the top of the dune was the best choice, the wind was just enough to keep the mosquitos away. Due to the wind coming off of the ocean, the temperature was great as it had been unbearably hot inland. It was an easy camping trip. We stopped on the way in, and picked up dinner, and had just enough fire in the pit to roast marshmallows to make s'mores. Early the next morning the sea was calm and swimming was an option before we packed up and left in time to go to work. All good!

Truly, a special place to camp. Our number one favorite. Choose the sites closest to the ocean to avoid mosquitoes. The walkins are difficult to carry your stuff to, but so worth it. It is so peaceful. And there’s so much to do and everything is easy to access. Parking in the walkin spots can be confusing Because it’s a New Parking system and people who are returning campers don’t want to abide by the new assigned spots.

Our family vacation 3 night stay at Assateague Island was ruined by mosquitoes. We understood there would be mosquitoes and horse flies but the 40 Deet bugspray did absolutely nothing to protect us. We were covered in dozens of bites each. Very itchy, painful bites. We had to run thru the shower/outhouse area because there were swamp like water filled areas on each side that were clearly mosquito breeding grounds. We were only told to bring bug spray with Deet but later discovered 100 Deet was the only thing that gave you any chance of not getting bit to near death. We were all set to go home after scratching ourselves to near death like flea ridden dogs, sporting what looked like chicken pox as we strolled the boardwalk in search of food because we were scared to be on the campsite or anywhere near it. Our legs are definitely stronger from running through the sand with sweatpants and hoodies in attempt to stay the trip entirety and not let the army of mosquitoes rob us of our much needed vacation. The kids scratched so bad they cried and screamed bloody mosquito murder and were swollen even after a few days of swimming for hours. We believe it should be advised by the ASSATEAGUE ISLAND staff and on booking site in BOLD RED to wear full body loose covered clothing and 100 Deet on hands, feet and face to minimize exposure and feel they have failed us and others by not doing so. Our neighboring campers had a 3 year old that her eyes were swollen shut from mosquito bites and feel this is unacceptable by a federal organization. Other than the attack of disease ridden blood suckers, we had an amazing vacation and enjoyed every second of beauty as we itched our way thru seashore paradise. The boat rides, restaurants and waves crashing alongside locals were so welcoming and enjoyable. Next time a 5 gallon bucket of DEET and showering in it days before to give us the fighting chance because giving up and cancer from deet exposure we fear not, but mosquitoes we do.

I recommend the following for your comfort. There are wild horses and pets are allowed, so there will be feces; be sure to bring shoes to wear around the campground and into the bathroom. The ponies will come into your campground at any time: keep your food in a hard container and you can shake a can of pennies or wave a tarp if they come over while you have your food out. Please remember that quiet hours are from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Our campsite was clean and all the park staff were very friendly. The showers were also surprisingly nice.Mid-May was an excellent time to go. Warm enough for a little sunbathing, and no bugs!

Beautiful!! Check in was easy, everything was clean...
My only complaint was family next to us was walking all over the plants in the dunes and had their dog odd leash the entire time!!
Can u add in brochure importance of staying out of foliage??

Was able to get the very last campsite available 2 weeks out, knowing that beach camping sites book up months in advance. Woke up to a pony in our site just outside our tent and had to bang pots to shoo them away! Great close up for the pics, but too close for comfort to avoid being too close.

Super awesome camping trip. Camping directly on the beach is a must-do for a summer activity (it was a refreshing beak from university). Would recommend bringing firewood for smore's and a cooler to keep the food warm as the tent is scorching hot during the day. All in all, great camping.

Love this place. I come here for 3-4 nights of camping every year. Even though it can be hot and buggy, not to mention the thunderstorms, I love it. It's nature at its best: earth, wind, water, flora, and fauna.
