This is a busy and popular campground. The vault toilets need to be cleaned more often!

We went to Mustang Ridge for the camping and boat/boating access. Camping was really good, loved the campsites (we had 3 for all our families). We were very happy to have the showers there. Unfortunately the only temperature they had was HOT. After spending a day in the heat/sun boating, you want a cool shower not a hot one. The only other complaint we had is the boat ramp; it's small, long and steep. There is a clear sign that says "Do Not Park Beyond This Point". It's there for a good reason, you can't turn your vehicle and boat trailer around to launch if there are cars parked beyond that sign. On Saturday there were at least 7 vehicles (without trailers) parked there which made it extremely difficult for people to launch their boats including us. After several attempts we were finally able to launch. While we were waiting for my husband to get on the boat, (he was parking the truck/trailer) a DWR truck and trailer with a boat came down to the ramp and did NOTHING about all the vehicles parked illegally, very frustrating. Once on the water, Flaming Gorge is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and breath taking!!!!!

This is a great campsite, very well-maintained. Management was available and easy to find, if not at their site. Its a hilly campground, so my younger children did not ride bikes as much as they had at previous campgrounds. Our site (62) was quite large. My only complaint is the shower building was open from 10a-8p dailyId prefer 8a-10p. Its also located on the extreme east side of the gorge, so plan to drive for most activities. Sunny Cove is a beach right around the corner. Bring a tube or paddle board and beach toys. I wish I had had water shoes since there are some big rocks hidden in the water. Other activities we did were a day-trip to Dinosaur National Monument in Jensen (1.5-hr drive). We rafted the Green River from the dam to Little Hole. We rented through Dutch John Resort. This was our familys favorite activity. And we rented a boat for a day. We chose to rent from Lucerne Valley Marina (1:15 drive) instead of Cedar Springs Marina (15-minute drive) because CSM does NOT allow renters to pull tubes. Flaming Gorge is an awesome vacation destination! We stayed Sun-Fri in July 2021 and it did not seem crowded.
