Absolutely beautiful! We drove up without a reservation and were able to get a lakefront site after asking what was available at the entrance gate! We would definitely come back again!!!

Site D-9 is absolutely lovely, long and pretty level, it was not difficult to back in, although we did have to encroach on the site across from it to get into the site (thankfully no giant boulders or bollards in the way). We arrived in the dark - filling our tanks with water at the very clean dump station was no problem. Dumping on our way out was fine - plenty of room to get in and out, but with only one dump for so many sites I bet there are long wait lines in the summer months. Trash bins are between the entrance and the dump station - maybe 100 yards apart. Finding our site in the dark was very difficult as the COE map is quite vague and satellite maps cant help because of the fantastic tree cover in the park. Leaves were covering the site numbers painted on the road, and many sites have two spots (one for a camper, one for a boat?) but we figured it out. This site has a great view of the lake and neighboring swim beach, and had a nice mix of sun (not enough for solar) and shade (but open sky just behind the site - perfect if you use Starlink). Our AT&T cell service worked great. Lots of opportunities for walking. We never saw a ranger (November is off peak season) but the campground was quiet and other campers were pleasant. All sites were very tidy. Fuel, firewood, and convenience items are available 4 miles away, and groceries, restaurants, services in Clinton to the north or Greenbrier to the south. We definitely plan to camp here again.

We camped June 13, 2021 and the grass needed mowed then, but camped again July 8, 2021 and the grass was knee high to walk to the water. We camped in D8 and so the grass was so high we carried our puppy. Seems like know one is controlling or enforcing any rules. We called the Heber Springs Corp of Engineers office to see when the grass was going to be mowed, and was told it's under contract and would call back to let me know. I received no call back. Also, seen campsite with 6 tents and several vehicles. Camp Host was not making her normal rounds. We love the campground and are going back this weekend, but I do hope it has been mowed!
