There were no vacancies at hot springs state park. Were first timers. We passed this one going in. We couldn't get good signal and do the reservation online it kept kicking us back so I got quiet frustrated. But when we got there the camp host (Roy I believe) said yeah we get that a lot go on in there and take this tag and find u a spot and some signal and reserve it and come baxk up or well be around to bring u a confirm tag. Later. Very friendly very understanding it was way before 3 pm. We found the perfect spot for us and our little aussie dog. Bathrooms were clean and had good hot water. We explored around the cove found a little creek with some water still in it. The water was several feet low so we found a spot to walk down to the rocky shore skip rock and let our service dog do her jump swimming/pull in training. . She was still in a life jacket and leash. Water was a bit chilly but felt amazing Views were great. The drop off because of the marina and the boat dock was pretty close to shore and pretty deep but u could pull ur boat up into the cove.. the swimming area was kinda muddy from the low water levels. And dogs can't swim over there anyway. So we made our own way The tree coverage was amazing. We stayed cool and comfy the couple night we were there. We didn't make it down to the marina. But overall if we want a nice little quiet cove on the lake we'll pick this spot. It def hit our needs for the stay and might have stayed longer but we had another destination. Wasn't that far into hot springs. Lovely little camp ground. Everyone was SUPER friendly and loved our little fur baby.

My wife and I had a very pleasant visit in our 36' motorhome in site 3 during the first two weeks of November '23. The weather was such that we ran the heater a bit but wasn't bad at all - perfect campfire nights. The leaves were beautiful -mostly turning colors and some were falling and I think I'll bring a leaf blower next time to keep things tidy. We didn't boat or play in the lake but it was nice to look at. Site 3 is adjacent to a set of gates to the road and are kept locked. These gates are the first thing you see approaching the campground and the actual entrance is a little further down the road and not visible from that point. Several first time visitors (myself included) stopped at these gates and many asked us how to get in. A very large sign for the houseboat rental down the road adds to the confusion. I think a sign on the gates directing visitors to continue a little further would be helpful. This campground is a reasonable distance (~13 miles) to Hot Springs and we made several trips to explore that town. In all, it was a very nice stay and we will probably be back when our travels take us through that area again.
