We love camping at Dam Site River. It was the 1st time camping up near the dam we usually camp down below. We loved how one day the water was released at a 2 and the water flow was moving and the next day it was off and we could just float and enjoy the view of nature and water. I think the only thing that wasn't great were the ticks and there was a concrete vehicle stop right next to our picnic table which we had to step over all the time. That is a hazard and dangerous for anyone day or night.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful park. Check in was easy and we were greeted by the camp host. The only difficulty was leveling our rig on the driveway which had a significant slope to it. We had to be happy with being mostly level.

Nice site! This seems to be the largest site in this part of the campground, so its a little more private. Has stairs down to the river with a nice little landing area. We loved watching all the birds by the river in the morning. Unfortunately, the campsite was littered with trash. I didnt get the impression they are cleaning in between campers, outside of the fire ring. Great location for visiting Eureka Springs!

Site #7 has great access to the river and fishing, when they are not generating.
It is very peaceful there. Its dog friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay at this campground. Arrival was kind of difficult. Iniitally our navigator took us to the campground on the lake, which was closed for the season. Kind of freaked me out Fortunately, our rec.gov reservation had a directions icon and it took us to the open campgrounds below the dam where we had a reservation. It was a federal holiday and we were not sure where to find the fresh water point or where the dump station was. We asked another camper. We stayed in spot 07 in Pine Loop (I think). The camp host came by later in afternoon; he was very friendly. There was a set of stone steps down to the white river behind our campsite. This is outside of the special use area from what I can tell. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and did not have the opportunity to trout fish. Maybe next time. This campground and spot 07 is on our list of "let's do it again." :)

Look out for the Nutria at night! They arent scared to go thru your trash and take food, even if you have good campsite etiquette and keep it clean.

Stayed November 20-26, 2021, site 7. The river was incredible for both fishing and kayaking. There is plenty of space between each campsite with a covered table. Leatherwood Lake Park is a 10 mile drive and is a great place to hike or mountain bike. Also have a playground the young ones love to visit.

My comment isn't just about the site, but about the campers around us. As we were backing into our site 7 we had a tire blow out on our 31 ft trailer, something we never experienced before and other than the spare we were unprepared to change it. Some camping neighbors were very nice and came to our aid with a jack and proper tools. We are very grateful to them, they saved our vacation. The site was clean and beautiful. We love fishing and kayaking the river, which are readily accessible. On a rainy day we went to Eureka Springs to explore the haunted hotel [Crescent Hotel] and enjoyed gourmet pizza at the Sky Bar. We've made going to Dam Site River an annual event and always look forward to going there.

The site is a bit deceiving by sight. There is a dip in the drive that made the unhook from truck difficult. Had to have two blocks under front end levelers. The reservation site says water/electric and we arrived to a locked faucet. November 30 - Dec 1. There was no rate adjustment for that either. I tried through recreation.gov and was told to do that through the facility, where the gatehouse is locked up for the winter. Otherwise a pretty little park, very very quiet until someone fires up the loud diesel early a.m. or arrives late (after 10 pm) and bangs around setting up. Our site had a nice path to the river with some stone steps. Fish were not biting. Cold. Most the sites are long enough to accommodate bigger rigs. Ours had 50 amps.

This is the best site in this loop. It sits deep into the loop with it's own access to the river. When the river is down, there are rock to land on just below the camp site. Great Spot!8 is also a great spot with even better river access!

This site has a path to the river...no bank to sit on...but you could stand and fish from the trail...covered table was a plus...good RV site...not much room for tents...I'm pretty sure the boat ramp by the restrooms was used only for kayaks/canoes and fishing.
