Pawnee Campground, CO - Latest Reviews, Photos & Campground Map
Pawnee Campground is located in the Boulder Ranger District, Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests (50 min west of Boulder, CO) with an elevation of 9,688 feet. There are a total of 45 campsites including 14 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the end of June to mid September. 31 sites can accommodate RVs between 33 and 150 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Fees range from $25.00 to $50.00. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports, rock climbing.
Visitors with a Pawnee Campground reservation do not need to purchase a timed ticket to enter, but must show proof of their campground reservation. Parking limited to Pawnee Campground for the duration of the reservation. A separate timed ticket is required to park at other lots in the fee area (including trailheads).

We always use the Walk In sites. They are more secluded, quiet, no RVs & generators. The camp hosts this summer were from Colorado and so nice & friendly. It is an easy walk to Brainard Lake. Beautiful area. It's a wonderful mountain getaway for us.

My wife and I love the Pawnee Campground tent sites and Brainard Lake! The campground and restrooms are kept meticulously clean. The only down side, it's always hard to get a few days booked because of its popularity. :) Out favorite place in Northern Colorado and a short drive from home!

Our end of the season camping experience was wonderful. Our walk-in campsite was cleaned and ready for us and the bathrooms were pristine!The next day we hiked from Brainard Lake to within sight of the Isabell Glacier, but had to turn back due to weather.

One of the nicest campgrounds I have ever stayed in - walking distance to Brainard lake and close to some nice hikes, less than a hour from Boulder. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean and the host was super nice and allowed s to switch from moose # 16 which is closer to the lake but fire pit was right on the road to site # 11 which was much bigger and a little more tucked in. The walk in sites seem very nice for next time!

Great campsite. Still disappointed that campers with kayaks or canoes must make several trips to unload, return to campsite and return to reload. Have to carry boats to water so this process is cumbersome to say the least. Was informed that we had to check-out an hour earlier than reservation time.

An amazingly beautiful area. Campground was excellent with excellent hosts who kept it spotless. Brainard Lake is very close to the campground. The whole recreation area was very well managed. We hiked to Lake Isabelle the first day, then to Blue lake the second. Both trails offered beautiful views, saw quite a few Moose and other wildlife. Although the weather was a bit inclement at times, quite a bit of rain. It was a fantastic experience for us and we will be back.

Its our fourth time here and we love it. Its the most clean campground we have been. The spots are so spacious and in level. So many great trails nearby. The only thing you have to prepay for parking spot if you want to park at trailhead ($18). And no internet and cell phone service.

This is my favorite campground in Colorado! It is so peaceful! Went for a hike up to Long Lake and truly enjoyed that too! And also were treated to seeing a baby moose as we walked around the lake. Campground hosts did an exceptional job maintaining the sites. Very clean and tidy! Thank you!

The campground and bathrooms were clean and attended to impeccably. There were no intrusive drones this year, which has been a problem in the past. Although it is nice to be unplugged from cell service, it would be helpful to have a signal for any family emergencies. Ive been camping here for 40 years, still the most beautiful setting.

Beautiful area and a nice campground! Super clean campsites add vault toilets. Friendly and helpful campground hosts. On the wildlife side, we saw a number of moose while there - bonus! And it was nice to see that they are continuing to improve the Brainard Lake area; by putting in new trails in a few areas. We look forward to going back!

The sites are incredibly large and well equipped. There is a bear box, flat area for tents, campfire ring, and picnic table. Other sites are close but the trees provide decent coverage. We loved walking straight to trails and to the lake.

Amazing campground with stunning views and a perfect location just outside of Denver. The hosts are incredibly nice and helpful, and the facilities are top-notchthe toilets are spotless with excellent odor control. We loved seeing the variety of wildlife during our stay, which made the experience even more special. The only downside is that reservations can be tricky to get, so plan ahead. Overall, highly recommend!

It was great to be back at Pawnee Campground. We have tried for the last few years to get a reservation and no matter what we try, we could never get it. The minute the clock hits 9:00 we would try and every time, it was already gone. Really wish it could be more fair getting reservations!!

Excellent campsite and campground. Spotless bathrooms, beautifil scenery near the lake and hiking. Campground hosts were friendly and helpful. Water provided at the campground. No cell service. Lots of wildlife sightings.
