Loved the pave roads and site. Enjoyed the amount of space between each site and the wooded setting. Nice lake and store down the road. Will be back.

We come to Rainbow every summer to escape the Phoenix heat. The hiking options are plentiful and the scenery varied. We love the East and West Baldy trails. The campsites are good sized and well spaced. Hosts are friendly and helpful.

We love how this campground is set up, the distance between spaces, and the shade available in all the sites we have used. We had rain most days, but the mornings were nice and allowed us time to get in a hike each day. This time we hiked the Thompson Trail #629, the Railroad Trail accessed from the West Baldy trailhead area, and a trail from the campground at Hannagan Meadow. We enjoyed them all. Do try the Rendezvous Diner in Greer (8-3, closed Tuesday)

Arrived in time to set up camp before another rain storm -- it rained for 10 days before we arrived and every day of our stay. But the intermittent rain did not dampen our spirits or our camping fun. The hosts identified sites that had standing water and guided campers to other dryer sites. I stayed dry when in my tent for 4 rainy days. The camping area was beautiful, so many pine and aspen trees. Campers with generators followed the rules and we all lived peacefully. The campground is convenient to good hiking trails, we enjoyed West Baldy and Escudilla National Recreation Trails, as well as the trail from the campground to Big Lake Overlook. We will return again next season to continue enjoying the area.

We love Rainbow campground and have been camping there for years! The spots are clean and well kept, as are the bathrooms. My only complaint is that some of the nicest sites can't be reserved. Most people are driving a few hours to get to Big Lake and don't want to get there only to find out that there aren't any sites available. I know that some spots need to be available for first come, first serve, but it would be nice if a few more spots could be reserved online.

It has been a family tradition in my husband's family to go camping at Big Lake since, FOREVER. We have continued this tradition on and we go every June for a week and we have nothing but good things to say about Rainbow Campground. We will continue to go every year and look forward to it!
