My wife and I love spending time at Woods Canyon Lake! The drive is beautiful. The area is wonderful. The lake is incredible. The wildlife is abundant. The camping is fantastic! The only thing we didn't like this time was that the road around the Spillway campground is no longer paved. This causes a great deal of dust to kick up, when vehicles drive around the camp ground. Campground map used for reservation is wildly inaccurate, that's the only reason for 3 stars. We reserved site 14 because, according to the map, it was all by itself, we were really disappointed to pull in and find out it was the most cramped site in the whole place, sandwiched right in between two other sites. There are tons of great sites in this campground and we will be back. But we made a list of good sites so we won't have to trust the terrible recreation.gov again.

Probably our most revisited CG because...location, location, location! CG hosts were aces and vault toilets were clean and tidy. You never know who your neighbors will be on any given camp but this time there were two different sites several spots away from us running generators constantly and probably unnecessarily and even on either side of either side of quiet hours, to boot.

Nice location. We arrived to find that the spot we really wanted was right next to the one we reserved. The spot we really wanted was open, but for $34 a night. We asked the hosts, who were very nice and accommodating, if we could switch. They said no, that their hands were tied, that the bosses said no way, this can’t be done. So we went to the store and got cash, came back and paid $68 to move our site 15 feet to where we wanted. Seems a bit absurd and greedy of the private corporation to have this policy.

I loved the location, proximity to the lake, great fishing, large camp sites for tent camping and beautiful large Ponderosa Pines providing shade for every campsite. Our host was very pleasant, answered all of my questions about the area and shared fishing tips. The lake is stocked with trout which made for catching at least 3 trout each time I fished. The large birds, Asprey and Eagles especially when they were fishing for trout was amazing. The Rim hiking trails provided great views including sunsets. We are so looking forward to going back to Spillway!
