This was just a fair experience. We didn't like the camp site. Site 55 is too close to the next site and so we had neighbors sitting outside their trailer watching us all the time. The campsite slopes quite a bit from the parking pad to the table, bbq and fire pit. My wife fell once trying to get to our trailer. She is still hurting a week later.
The bathrooms were clean and well stocked and the cleaning crews checked often. Nice job!
The lady working the booth when we checked into the campground should NOT be greating customers. Her name was Judi and she was very rude and not helpful at all. We asked about getting another site and she got mean. She told us that we would have to pay again if we wanted to move and she could not help us. She all but said that there was no way to change sites. Compared to many of the other hosts we've met over the years, Judi was the worst. I will not be back to this campground as long as this lady is working there.
The people working at the Woods Canyon Store were all very nice and helpful. They took the time to answer our questions and explain the boat rental process. A nice crew.
The views from the Rim are hard to beat.

The gate employee and camp hosts were all friendly and informative.

The campground is gigantic in size, well-cleaned, and the bathrooms were frequent and clean. However, that was the best of it. We were there on a weekend and there were TONS of extremely loud, late night parties. We were only able to stay one night (see below) but were kept up until 2 or 3 in the morning by the sound of partying 4 or 5 lots away, as well as car alarms that went unattended for hours. It was clear that although they have a lot of rules (some of which are good, some of which are pointless) they must not have anyone monitoring in the evening. In regard to the rules, the lots have completely unpredictable sizes of pavement "spits" - some where 50 feet long, some where 10 feet. We had registered with one car and one 15' trailer (5' unopened and 15' when opened), and they let us reserve a spot that had about a 12 foot spit. Our trailer is a little two wheel military trailer from WW2 that has a tent on top, and since our spit had no space for it, we rolled it onto the vast clearing to set up the tent. It runs on solar power and weighs less than 200 lbs, but they insisted we move it back on to the pavement after our first night. When we showed them that the spit of pavement wasn't big enough for the size of car and trailer we registered, they refused to allow us to move - even though it was Sunday night and there were at least 20 vacancies in our immediate vicinity. The park ranger was rude, nonsensical, and was unwilling even to have a conversation with us. In the end, we were not able to stay, since we couldn't fit the registered vehicles on the small pavement they gave us and wouldn't help us move. Overall it was a huge bummer. Our set up is completely gas and generator free, we run on solar and a little bit of propane, and we meticulously clean out more trash per camp spot we stay at so they end up cleaner then when we arrive. But it was us and our little set up, not the massive RVs or all-night frat parties, that were made to leave.

Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. My only negative observation is the poor condition of the main road leading to the campgrounds and the lake. It has been patched hundreds of times and looks like it might be time for re-paving. We have been coming to Woods Canyon Lake for decades and we always enjoy it!

I absolutely love this campground. One of the best I've been to and so close to many things.
