We had a great time at Los Alamos Campground and we're already planning on going back. We chose site 15 in Loop 1, which is at the base of the hill, we had a dry creek behind us and no one to our right, it's a great spot, lots of room, and good shade in the morning and afternoon. The first night we were one of four campers in our loop, but it did fill up a little on Saturday night. Everyone was respectful of the quiet hours, so there wasn't a problem there.

I will say it does get a little windy, especially in the afternoon. It was the first time we were trying out or Wenzel 8 person tent - which is kind of boxy and not very aerodynamic, it did cause some stress but the tent held up fine. Make sure you use your guylines. The camp host let us know that most of the sites get a little windy so be prepared.

The camp host was super friendly and came around a couple of times a day to see if we needed anything - make sure you bring CASH, wood and ice are decently priced but it is cash only. Lebec is a few miles away so you can always go into town if you need anything. There's a Pilot Flying J's, but I recommend you drive a little further up and go into town you'll find a market, restaurants, Ace Hardware, and Dollar General.

There are no hiking trails from the campsite, but lake pyramid is a short drive away ($12 to enter) and is a great place to picnic, rent a boat, or go for a walk. You can drive to hiking trails but they're a bit on the strenuous side.

I have Verizon and I was at 2 bars, but I didn't come here to get work done. This is a great place to unplug from everything, have a good cup of coffee, watch the birds, squirrels, gophers, and the stars.

Will go back in July!! we love it!
its a beautiful place to visit.
The only thing we notice is the that birds take out the trash from the trash cans and they make a mess. They should put special trash cans so they won't be able to take out all the trash out. mainly in the picnic lake area more. Not the campground.
