There seems to be a gravel shortage at this campground which is an issue following heavy rain such as occurred just prior to memorial day weekend. Our site #24 and the neighboring site #22 were especially bad. Steep and muddy. Avoid these sites. Another reason to avoid #24 is that the vent pipe from the pit toilet, not shown on the map, will be about 15 feet from you and if the wind is blowing the wrong way....you get it. I hope that perhaps some day these 2 sites can be reconfigured into 1 where you can actually pull out of without putting your vehicle in 4WD low range. Few of the campsites were mowed, so a few truck loads of gravel would help that too. We took our weekend trash with us rather than add to another obvious problem. One small dumpster was inadequate and likely would be for most weekends. We were passing by Cook Forest State Park so were able to use their sanitary dump station. It would be nice if options were posted on-line and at the campground. The Marienville sewer plant is only a few miles north so perhaps management could make some sort of arrangement to dump there for a fee since the price of gasoline makes it costly to go out of your way.
