Was there on a Monday night and stayed in one of the sites along the river. Was a great site and being a Monday - off season I had no neighbors. The show house is in the upper campground was clean, well lite, and shower was hot.

Love this campground. Great views on the water and sites off water looked super nice as well. Would be nice if they had one more shower facility so you didn't have to drive or walk a long ways for access. Very quite area and , a great place to get away from it all. Would be nice though for emergencies if there was either cell service or internet . Other then that perfect. Really enjoyed our few days there.

The park is quite lovely with interesting traffic through Lock 12. Some sites may present problems for lower heighted slide outs, Quite a nice location. JRC

Well maintained facilities, helpful Campground hosts. Clean restrooms. Only issue is lack of cell coverage but that is probably beyond your control.

Park volunteers were great. Watching the barges pass on the river was cool. Space are a little tight for big rigs with slideouts. However, it was just disgusting to see all the litter on the way there near the mines.

If you like ants then this place is for you. And zero phone service. But we only used it for one night stop over and it was very pretty area.

Stayed at campsite #4. Great location on the river front with access to the bathhouse. I will definitely be back.

Very remote, recommend fueling up and buying groceries before heading into this spot. No AT&T cell service/internet at all. Waterfront sites are a bit tricky for larger rigs. Our camper van with kayak trailer made it into the site OK but I would be cautious reserving sites here with a longer trailer. Drone of coal mining operations can be heard 24/7 and coal barges move up and down river. No stores along Lock 17 road (about 15 miles long) back to campground.

Off the beaten path so bring what you need with you. Nice concrete pads. Sites 1-8 on water and rest on creek. All are very nice. Shower house in loop on creek, only toilets near waterfront sites. Staff very friendly and helpful. Gate code for Campground loops. 3 fishing piers, swim area, boat ramp and play area in day use and camp loop on creek. Water and electricity. Dump station.

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. All the hosts we met were very friendly. We enjoyed our time very much. We didn't have cell service.

Always Love staying here. The river is a peaceful place to be. Saw Otters, Racoons, Cranes, Hawks, Turkey's, etc.

The campground hosts were great. During our stay we had severe weather predicted and had to report to a shelter. Prior the host confirmed who would be at the campground the evening of the severe weather and informed us of how we would be notified should we need to report to a shelter - which we did.The campground is in need of maintenance.

We loved the park. Very clean. Absolutely zero phone service, if thats a problem for anyone. It wasnt a problem for me personally. We were surprised they were no trails whatsoever. That was the first park weve ever been to with no trails of any kind. But we still walked around the park and down the road to the dam. Restrooms were super clean. Overall loved the view of the water. Very peaceful. Pretty much any camping spot was a good choice.

Another great stay at Burchfield. Very quiet and peaceful. So many different types of wildlife, Cranes, Warblers, Hawks, Otters, and Racoons. Looking forward to our next visit.

There's NO connectivity to the outside world here, except the camp's main number, so cell's, and internet doesn't exist here. Killed a copperhead snake that came out of a hole 2' from my truck. Tiny tiny ants infest the place, everything you lie down is instantly covered. One public restroom was fairly close, but the showers were about a half a mile walk to get too. The concrete pad we were on was slanted so water stood against the wall and under our camper, instead of being tilted to where the water would run away from us. Fell off the concrete slab where there was a solid FOOT drop and almost broke my knee. But, good side, the people were really nice and there's a BOATLOAD of turtles in the lake.

Loved this Campground! The views were amazing! Ants were a small problem, but we managed. Our waterfront site had several logs in the water that prevented us from fishing like we wanted to. But, the experience was grand. Will come here again!
