Site #136 is our favorite spot. We even lengthened our stay a couple nights because we enjoyed it so much. We had the whole culdesac to ourselves as most campers preferred the few full HU's near the bathhouse. Amazing views of the river with lots of wild life, boat and barge activity. Very quiet spot but not sure if that changes once the system ramps up. The only issue we had was flies getting into the camper as we have never had that before. Not sure if that was due to the weather change from cold to warmer. Husband caught 4 bass right off the fishing pier nearby. Hostess was very helpful and friendly. Bathhouse was a little worn but clean. As others have mentioned, you will need to drive about 30 minutes for a good restaurant and gas. There is a small station nearby that has ice, snacks, bait but gas pumps were shut down, I believe due to an owner change.

This is my new favorite COE in Alabama. So far, I've camped at 7 of the 18 or so campgrounds in Alabama. I camped in February during a very warm week and the campground was practically empty. It's huge. Parts of it were closed and I could see the pipes were wrapped against the cold. I was camped right on the river, as I wanted to see the barge traffic, and was not disappointed.Very quiet campground. Lots of leaf-blower sounds in the distance. Good roads going in. Perfectly level, site 136. Spectrum/Verizon signal was good enough for some streaming with a little buffering. Some easy fishing spots, but no luck. Bath house near me was very clean, looked like fresh shower curtains. No one at the entry gate, so I went on the site about 15 minutes before check-in time. Host came by as I was setting up, friendly, but I never saw him again. Site was clean and ready. No issues, anyway. No stores nearby, just the Dollar General others have mentioned. I will definitely be back as soon as I can!

Great time with family and friends. Grandkids had a great time on river. Campground was clean and bathrooms were clean with plenty of hot water and pressure. Already booked sight for week of Thanksgiving.

This campground is amazing, the best so far that weve found on recreation.gov. We were in site 136 on the waterfront and it was beautiful. We fished from our site and caught a catfish almost with every cast, not big enough for keeping but fun for the sport and definitely fun for kids. Huge barges go by often and its quite the site if you are not from the area. Everyone who works the campground was helpful and so friendly. The towns of pickensville and Aliceville are about as charming as you would hope, locals are friendly and welcoming, loved giving them our business for ice, bait, groceries and hardware. Will be back next time were in that area. Was just me and my husband and our two large dogs and didnt have a single issue. Biting flies were the only insects we encountered after afternoon storms came through, Off worked great for them. Some sites dont have sewer, be sure to pick one that does or bring your portable tank for a longer stay.

Great weekend trip. Park is clean with bathhouses clean also. Glad to see COE project shoring up the riverbank with the big boulders. Always enjoy watching the barge traffic.

You have established rules however the rules are not enforced. My biggest complaint is DOGS NOT LEASHED. Your park hosts just sit in their space and do not lift a finger.
