Clean, friendly and plenty of space between sites

A beautiful COE site off the Alabama River. Most of the sites are right off an estuary into the river with a boat launch and a number of places to fish off the shore. The city of Montgomery is a short distance away with many of the attractions being a 45-minute drive from the campsite. The road to the camp is a little narrow and I had to drive slow on the way out due to drainage dropoff on the right side of the road. Maneuvering the campsite was easy but there are a few low-hanging branches that dragged along the roof of my motorhome. Site 101 was perfectly level, but there is no sewage on site. I camped at Gunter Hill in a 43' Class A DP Motorhome.

Our site in the A Loop was nice and peaceful but the bathhouse was dirty. In the men’s none of the urinals flushed. One of the commodes was clogged, another was leaking black water. I called and it was a surprise and just an out of order sign appeared. We always enjoyed the park but now it appears it’s gone way down hill. Roads need repair too. Probably will not return nor will recommend.

Shore power fixture needs repair, site was generally clean, dump station adequate, quiet with NO neighborly 'problems', gate house host quite nice. Shore water hookup was good. Thank you.

Would like to see a better site map available at check in and some better signage to find our site. Our site was nice and very quiet.

I know other reviewers say the Catoma Loop is much better - I did a quick drive-through and the updated Catoma did look nice - the old Antioch loop is charmingly rustic and still has water and electric (50A, 30A, 20A). The sites are wooded, the gravel pads are just as level as any cement pad I've ever had, the pads are quite long and at the perfect angle for backing in, and so well spaced that you almost feel like you are alone in the woods. Bath house was old but serviceable and the laundry machines worked well (clothes actually got clean, unlike other camps). I had site 101 with a perfect view of the Catoma Creek. Awesome to open the door and see such a splendid scene.

Downsides:
- 50A outlet was a bit hot (124-126 volts with frequent spikes) and had high ground, so rather than give up this great view I just used the 30A service, which was fine. I did report the issue and they said they'd check.
- Picnic table is very old, starting to deteriorate. But I didn't get any splinters in my hinter region.
- Someone goes around with a loud gas blower EVERY DAY, clearing the roads of leaves and disturbing the tranquility. WHY?! This is the woods, not the suburbs, the HOA isn't going to come after you! Once a week, maybe. Not all day, every day. Please.

Overall, a great experience. If I'm ever in this area again Gunter Hill will be where I stay.

The Antioch side of the campground is one of the dated Corp of Engineer parks we’ve visited. My only recommendation is that it could use some bathroom/shower updates and road work done. That being said, it’s still a great campground and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. We went to the Hank Williams museum and final resting place. There is quite of bit of history in Montgomery to check out. We look forward to coming back.

A little off the beaten path but a nice place to stay.
