Such a beautiful park! We were in Site #40 and it was peaceful and scenic. We've already made plans to come back in a few months!

When we first arrived, we thought wed found the best COE campground weve ever stayed at. The staff is awesomefriendly, helpful, and welcoming. The campground itself is spotless, the sites are spacious, and the scenery along the river is nothing short of beautiful. Add in the fact that every site is full hook-up, and it seemed like Gunter Hill had everything a camper could ask for.So why only three stars?THE SMELL.Theres a nearby paper plant that unleashes one of the most offensive assaults on the olfactory senses Ive ever experienced. It smells like raw sewage mixed with something chemicaland once it rolls in, it stays. What started as a dream stop quickly turned into a challenge of endurance. We closed windows, ran filters, lit candles, even cracked open bottles of Pine-Sol for backup. At one point, we joked about breaking out the N-95 masks, but honestly, they probably wouldnt have helped much. Its a real shame because everything else about Gunter Hill is absolutely top-notch. If the wind is right or the plant isnt active, this could easily be a 5-star campground. But as it stands, that smell is impossible to ignoreand thats why its only three stars from us.

We decided to add a day to our trip and stay overnight at Gunter Hill. It did not disappoint! The sites are very roomy and quiet. I loved the scenery. We will definitely be coming back!

The sites here are so spacious and tree lined. One of my favorites so far

Campsite was great. The showers were not great- the drain was stopped up and the floor flooded as I showered. I would have tried a different Shower had I known the problem.

Great bike riding park with a neat old trail. The lower numbered section is better if you like bigger sites with wooded lots. Only negative is the occasional sewer smell from treatment plant down the road.

This is a really nice campground. It appears that it has recently been renovated. All of the pads are concrete with easy access. The facilities seem new as well. Will definitely be stopping here again.

Wonderful park with full hookups. Under brush could be cut to give better water views. Hosts were very nice. Had a water line break in park but was fixed by that evening. Was surprised how efficient it was taken care of being Labor Day Weekend but they did a great job keeping us informed. Would differently recommend.

Stayed in the Catoma Loop which has cement pads, gravel patio and full hook-ups. Almost all sites has long pads that you do not have to unhook if you do not want to. Great bicycle riding in the campground roads and one trail thru the woods that is paved. There is a boat launch if you decide to bring your boat. A Dollar General is 1/4 mile away and the Montgomery Motor Speedway is 1/8 mile away with great entertainment when they are running. The city of Prattville is less than 10 miles and has the Bass Pro Shops, shopping and plenty of restaurants.

Huge campsites. Nice quiet location. Speedway nearby with racing on Saturday night which can be heard from the campground. Ends before 11 pm. Paper mill nearby with a strong odor some days. Not close to restaurants so bring your own food. Dollar General less than a mike away.

This was our first visit to a campsite next to the water. We stayed in #40 as it had an awesome view of the water front. Always love the spacious sites at Gunter Hill. Don't cha just wish other campgrounds (such as Wind Creek State Park) had this much room for your camper and families to enjoy life together. Of course it's all about the mighty dollar $$$ at all the other Non-COE campgrounds.

We travel full-time but have a home near Montgomery. Whenever we come back to check on our house, we stay at Gunter Hill. We love how well-kept everything is. Even after the storms came through, they were very fast about getting everything cleaned back up. The views of the river are beautiful.
