Second time we have stayed here. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained but the campground ring road is very narrow, bumpy and has many trees close to the road. Drive slowly and be vigilant when driving through. The campground hosts are friendly and helpful. Shout out to Theresa, the most welcoming host! The sites are easy to back into but a little close to neighbors in the inner rings so the smoke and noise that are abundant on weekends can be intrusive. The drive into the campground is a narrow residential street with no shoulders and deep ditches so again, drive carefully. All the big box stores for supplies are a short distance away.

Site 1 nice long pull thru, backs up to woods. Sewer connection under water if it rains. Distinct sewer smells different times during our stay, not sure if it was from our site or the dump which is not far behind the site.

This place is beautiful and quiet but the sewage hookups were completely under water. Unfortunately a big rain came the day before we arrived which caused water to pool around all the hookups. Will try another site next time on our way home. Everyone was nice and the concrete pull thru was easy.

The Staff at Gunter Hill have always been very polite from the couple at the gate to the groundskeepers. The sites have always been clean and well taken care of.

Second time at Gunter Hill, one of the nicest state park camp grounds in the country. Well maintained, spacious, just a great experience.

A beautiful park. My site was flat concrete so no worries about getting squared up. Was not near the water and was told that the boat ramp was in an entirely different location. Did walk every day and once holiday weekenders had left it was extremely quiet.

Well maintained, beautiful campground. Concrete, level, drive-through site. Good cell phone coverage. Near to Montgomery, but in the country. Easy access to major roads.

Gunter Hill is one of our favorite parks, the sites are very nice, big, well designed, level with plenty of room for easy access. There are lots of trees and it is on the river. The facilities are well cared for and everyone has always been very friendly and helpful. This is our go to park as we travel between Florida and Michigan. Highly recommend this park

Longest campsite driveways I’ve ever seen, level, paved with full hookups in #1-75. Fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill,
tall lantern pole. Bathhouse was huge, many shower and restroom stalls. We had site #1, a pull through. Lots of moss covered trees. We didn’t see the whole campground as we just stayed overnight and did not unhook the trailer. We got a last minute, same day reservation which was required (no “walk ups”). Sweet older gentleman at entrance station was expecting us and had our pass ready. As are most COE’s this one is remote, about 15 miles off interstate. It is on a reservoir. The signage to get there was not great; at the last intersection before reaching the park there was no sign but luckily we chose correctly. We were not given a campground/park map which would have helped due to the odd way the sites are numbered. We missed site #1 by taking the wrong fork at the CG entrance.
Overall this is a lovely campground with clean, paved, spacious sites. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend! Also honors the National Park Senior pass so our cost was half price. Can’t beat this lovely campground for $15 a night!

From the time I arrive at the gate Jim Scott was very friendly as he logged us in. Mr Scott has always acted like he cares about us when we've gone to Gunter Hill. All the employees there alway are so friendly and work hard to keep the campground looking better than the other COE areas we've been at. We will be back soon.

Beautiful park, very clean campsites and bathrooms and nice staff. I love the size of the lots and the entire park is large and secluded with allot of trees. The river back properties was a nice surprise. I highly recommend. I will return to this campsite next time I'm passing thru town.
