We pulled in after dark so we couldnt see much at first. I will say the turn to go in is a bit steep and we bottomed out in the camper but no harm no foul. Our host, Mini, was an absolute treasure. We found our spot and set up quickly on the nicely paved spot (2). The next day we were blown away. It was quiet, insanely clean bathrooms (thanks bill and co) and a cute play area for our 6 yo. We rode bike in a loop and checked out the trail while stopping to speak to several COE employees that were a delight. The other campers were respectful, kind and courteous. The next host (didnt catch her name) was just as accommodating and instead of the one night, we stayed 3. Would go back again and again. One of the best experiences for us, we are novices but dont need a lot of frills. There is a walking trail and boat ramp along with riverside campsites that we did not utilize but checked out. Gold star.

Lovely, quiet campground with friendly hosts and clean bathhouse. Keep in mind that it is not close to grocery stores or restaurants, so be prepared.

Rules need to be clearly stated on Recreation. Gov website of gate rules. I called to let them know we had vehicle issues and wouldn't be there till 11pm. The host informed me he could not open gate after 10pm and he had to be up at 5am so he could not stay up that late. He said he doesn't make the rules. We had to stay in our vehicle (my husband,2 kids and myself) over night in freezing temperatures of 26°. I understand if that is a rule for this campground but it needs to be more clear on the booking website so maybe it can be avoided in the future with anyone else.

Enjoyed our stay. Sites are large, spacious and wooded. Nice seeing the barges going down the river. Our site #1 was right across from the bathhouse and playground and close to the dump station. Being close to the bathhouse and dump station are important when you don't have FHU at your site.
