We had a nice relaxing time just hiked around the campground and the road that leads to the dam and fished in the rivers. Many of the sites are waterfront, and some have their own fishing dock. Saw all kinds of wildlife. Deer, armadillos, feral pigs, waterfowls, raccoons, foxes, The campground was well maintained and clean. They are working on replacing all the fire rings and grills. The cell service was poor on the low-numbered sites, while the high-numbered sites had decent service that we were able to connect our hot spot and work. Be cautions of ants. So don't leave anything out that will attract them.

Biggest site to me. Great sunrise views. Quiet. Spots are closer than Miller's Ferry, but nice change of scenery.

It was our first visit to Prairie Creek COE campground in Lowndsboro, AL and we really enjoyed ourselves! A neighbor had recommended this park, as she has camped there several times before. It took us 3 hours to drive there from our home in West Pensacola, FL. The gate host was very pleasant upon our arrival. The campground is smaller than most of the COE campgrounds we've stayed in, but the sites are still far enough apart to provide plenty of privacy. We stayed for 5 nights and, with rain predicted most of our stay, we enjoyed the peaceful days and nights with hardly seeing anyone during the entire time! Only 3 out of the 5 nights did we have anyone camping anywhere near us, which was nice. We were in site #31 (great location with our own dedicated dock). It was very easy to pull up and back the camper into the spot on the first try! The bathhouse/laundry was just a short distance away from our site. I didn't go into the laundry room, but my husband said the facility was very clean and even had a small book nook (book exchange) . The washing machine costs $1.50 per load and the dryer was $1.00 per cycle. We built a campfire each night and there was plenty of (free) fallen dead wood available for gathering to keep the fire lit! The campground is far enough away from any major city (about a 25 minute drive to Montgomery and a 35 minute drive to Prattville, AL) so, the star gazing was a nice surprise! We enjoyed riding our bicycles a couple of days and walking our small dog around the park between the raindrops. We had one uncomfortable situation when another camper's two unleashed dogs came into our campsite (our dog was on a leash) and I reminded them that there is a leash law to protect campers and other pets. No other episodes, thank goodness! The trees in the park are all draped in Spanish Moss, but no problem with chiggers as the temperatures had already dropped into the lower 40's (cold enough to kill them) before our arrival. Fun trip!

I wasn't able to get there until after dark. A bit of a challenge getting in. But in the morning was a beautiful area. Didn't realize I was right on the water until I woke up. Would love to come back and get a better look around

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
