Our first time camping here was amazing!! And thats with it raining the entire time. The lady at the front gate was very nice, our spot was clean and beautiful. The restrooms did need a little love but no real complaints here. We will absolutely be back!!!

This is one of the nicest campgrounds that I have stayed in and I have stayed in many. I am a tent camper. These sites are large, fairly private, and drain well. The bath houses are clean, but could use a little updating. Water actually comes out of the showerhead instead of just dripping out like some other campgrounds I have been to.The army core engineers has dropped their requirement that Firewood cannot be delivered to the campsites. Us campers appreciate greatly. Youre listening to our request and changing your policy on this. It makes it a much more pleasant experience. There is one thing that completely separates this campground from others that I have been to. Cam is the campground host and has gone way above and beyond helping me and making me feel welcome. He has had other house there, Shirley is the latest, who I think he has trained very well because they are ultra, considerate and helpful to all the campers. this campground is 3 1/2 hours from the and I drive past several other campgrounds that I have stayed at in order to stay at this one. I will be returning to this campground for two weeks stays at least twice a year. many of the sites are right on the edge of the water. Some even have small piers. Now, if they can just do something about the heat and the bugs during the summertime.

We haven't gotten setup yet when someone that had that site for the next night, stopped by and had the nerve to ask me what time I was checking out. He also asked if he could leave his boat on our site. Of course I said no and we would leave when it was time. Other then that, we loved the site.

Prairie Creek Campground was mostly empty during our 1 night stopover. It is an attractive, wooded campground with mostly shaded sites. Sites along the lake tended to be closer together than I like, but with great views. Sites across the street tended to offer a little more space and, in some cases, more privacy. There were only two other occupied sites in our loop at the opposite end of our section. I had picked a secluded, wooded campsite away from the lake, but was able to move to a secluded, lakeside campsite which turned out to be one of the most enjoyable of our 6 week trip. The bathhouse was old, but clean. It was pleasant to walk the dog around the campground with the added benefit of also being able to walk through the old abandoned campground that was destroyed by a hurricane.

Very nice trip for us. Site & campground was clean & well-kept. Visited Live Oak Cemetery in Selma & the Cahaba Archeological Site one of the days. Good meal at the Orrville Farmer’s Market. Closed out our ‘21 camping season here & made reservations before leaving to start it here in ‘22. Most owl sounds I’ve encountered while camping! Highly recommend!

This is the QUIETEST campground. I love it. If you need privacy and peace, you will like it. Close enough to Selma to take a history day trip. The showers were clean, although not the newest. Biking on the road and a trail that goes to the other side of the peninsula that apparently is an old campground loop.

First let me say, I always enjoy my stay at Prairie Creek Camp Ground. With that being said, I am retired and I hunt Lowndes WMA, from December thru February, each year. Unfortunately, camp ground rules prevent me from staying at Prairie Creek for my season of hunting. They limit me to 14 days of lot rental, in a 30 day period. At the end of the 14 days, I am forced to leave the camp ground, until a 30 day period has expired. At which time I am allowed to rent lot space for another 14 day period. In the mean time I am forced to road trip, in order to hunt, Lowndes WMA. This costs me a lot of excess money and time on the road.In my opinion, a rules change should be made, allowing me, as well as, a lot of other campers, the ability to rent another, available camp lot at the end of the 14 day time frame, in lieu of having to leave the camp ground, all together! This rules change would also increase revenue for the camp ground, during very slow times of the year,( ie: January-February ) some of the coldest times of our year. To affirm this, I have witnessed the camp ground at Prairie Creek, almost totally empty for over 10 days at a time. I have spoken to other campers, disgruntle, because the were being forced to move to another camp ground, or just go home, due to their 14 day period having expired and camp rules forcing them to leave, with 40-50 camp spaces being available! I think this is something that needs to be addressed, as the benefits, for both campers and Corp Camp Grounds would be substantial! All in all, I would encourage you to come to Prairie Creek Camp Grounds and enjoy a peaceful stay on the Alabama River!Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinions concerning this matter and I look forward to a improvement in the rules in the future. I believe the benefits will be extraordinary!!
