Great campground but my main dissatisfaction is when COA campground lock campers inside the campground. I totally understand locking the gate to prevent entry by non-campers but I cannot not see how you can justify locking campers in; there is no sensible justification for this. No hotel does this, no state park or private campground that I know of does this and if they do they give campers a gate code to allow them to go and come at will. This particular host said he was obligated to let me out but was not obligated to let me back in until regular gate hours. Why, WHY do you lock people IN? This treats us like we don't have any sense of responsibility. In a real emergency, having to wait on the host to answer the phone, get to the gate and unlock it could waste precious minutes. Please, stop locking the exit gate. I HATE THIS and vehemently disagree with it.

We have been camping for years at White Oak. The only thing that would make it better would be some full hook up sites. But thankfully the the Corps of Engineers takes pride in their property and everything is always in great shape. Anderson Construction (I think) does such a great job of keeping the restrooms and campsites clean. Excellent place to camp and unplug.

The camping trip was superb the only thing that we didn’t like was a barking dog in space 7 barked all the time we were there. Other than that we loved it.

Loved the waterfront site. A little noisy being so close to the boat launch.

I usually am very happy with this campground but this year has been very disappointing in that it has been difficult to get into the park due to closure of a good portion, not allowing campers to have groups together (8 people could camp in 1 camper but 4 campers with 2 each could not share time together) and no visitors allowed that were not spending the night. We usually have our Christmas together with our grandson and his family since it is halfway between our home and his. This year the only way he could come into the park was to spend the night in our RV. I did not understand the meaning of this. He could not come in for a couple of hours with us sitting outside and having our own bathroom inside the RV but could come spend the night. They could not spend the night due to work the next day. We had to drive to Dothan and have our Christmas in a park there.
