This campsite was great! Only downside is the overall driving time from Seawall Campground to many of the main hikes/activities at Acadia, but we valued the quietude of this campground a lot (which we've heard you don't get as much of at Blackwoods). We were there in August and found that by the time the sun set each night, the air was pretty misty (presumably from the nearby ocean), which made campfires just a little bit harder to get going because of the general dampness.

Great campground. Especially like that there are no camper trailers. No generators. The stars are so bright you need aviators at night.

Fantastic campground and location. We could hear the waves crashing at night, which was the perfect accompaniment to star gazing. Visiting over Labor-Day Weekend meant that the showers nearby were not open, however "Hot Showers" open 24-hours, 7 days a week is located nearby and wasn't a far drive. Be sure to use the bathrooms early before checking out/leaving for the day as they were closed for cleaning.

Great campground to hear the low rumble of the ocean nearby. Great view of the stars, and friendly staff.

I took advantage of the many hikes available, and missed some of the best like Cadillac Mountain, but going in the summer time means dealing with crowds. My fondest times were taking time from work to rest in the woods, and hear the sea, feel the wind, and watch the waves at Sea Wall. The intertidal zone life is diminishing as we live through climate change, but still the intertidal zone is the most beautiful of place of all. I brought an educational microscope and was stunned by the secret life of the seaweeds and the plants and animals that live on them. While not awash with plastics, please take the time to notice and pick up plastics. I found a buoy with rope on the shore, and a chunk of fresh polystyrene (styrofoam) wedged within the boulders on a pristine shore. You can download the Marine Debris Tracker to log your finds. Also if you find plastic pellets, send them to International Pellet Watch which is a project of a Japanese science lab that is analyzing and mapping the pellets and their adsorbed pollutants. This will lead to better understanding of where pollutants and plastic pellets are coming from and how they are combining.
