We brought out scout troop for five nights at Seawall for our troop's High Adventure Trip. Seawall was a terrific location and quieter than the more crowded side of Mount Desert Island. We stayed at group site G4, which was located a short walk from bathrooms and had a nice line of trees and shrubs to give us some privacy on two sides of the site. The drive to Bar Harbor and the other side of the park was lovely and traffic never too bad, but we were up and out early each morning. The rangers were all so kind and friendly. The Bass Harbor lighthouse is beautiful and only a short drive from Seawall. So is the Wonderland Trail (you can also walk to this but it's about two miles down the road). No showers at the campsite, but easy access to potable water and a dump station for your dishwater located in the same building as restrooms. Coin showers are available about a mile down the road from Seawall entrance at Seawall Camp Supplies store. Also available for purchase there are ice, firewood, basic nonperishables, and some first aid supplies. Seawall is about a ten-minute drive from Echo Lake, which has a lovely small beach and swimming, and also about ten minutes from downtown Southwest Harbor, which has some restaurants, ice cream, and cute shops. Our troop had a wonderful time exploring Acadia. We hiked the South Ridge trail to Cadillac Summit and also hiked the Quarry Path to Otter Creek to Ocean Path trails. We also rock climbed and did sea kayaking. We hope to come back again for another High Adventure trip in the future.
