Best campsite we stayed in our whole trip to Acadia. Cannot recommend it enough. Perfect mix of accessibility/ease and privacy. If I could do it all over and stay here our whole trip, I would.

The campground was wonderful. The design which only allowed tents is a brilliant idea for those of us who dont want to listen to generators. The restrooms were very clean and modern. We watched the sunrise at Seawall picnic area which was a perfect place. Watched an hour long display of seals fishing in the cove, actually jumping out of the water as well as the fish jumping out of the water. Hiked up the Beech hill Cliffs Trail and Beech Mountain one day, the north Ridge trail up Cadillac Mountain another, and Flying Mountain Trail the third morning to see Somes Sound from above. I highly recommend all of them.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys car camping without frills, this is the campground for you. Sea Wall is away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but close to the ocean and hiking trails (Wonderland or Ship Harbor anyone?). The restrooms were clean (no showers), the campground was quiet, and rangers were pleasant and helpful. You may be a bit close to other sites, but this campground was family-friendly. The great thing about national park campgrounds is they’re usually full of people there for the same reason you are: peace and quiet, enjoyment of nature, and a good night’s sleep.
A brief note: D loop campsites are hike-in sites. Some require more hiking than others. I lucked out and got a site that was fifty feet from my car. If you have members of your party who have impaired mobility, these may not be the most accommodating sites.
A second brief note: it goes without saying there is no wifi at the campground. The nearest public wifi is at the Southwest Harbor library. Cell service is also limited. I have Verizon and had a difficult time sending and receiving texts at times. Data was limited. Personally, I thought that was a benefit as it made it easier to be present in the moment, but just a heads up.
