This is my favorite place in Maine .It is a peaceful campground and exciting environment with beautiful hikes in the rolling mountains that overlook the ocean . The Loop road and carriage roads are spectacular to travel by bike . I would ask that if campers reserve sites at the National campground(Blackwood) and do not show up please cancel your reservations. So many open sites at the campground but the reservation system reports full/no availability. Please think about others who may like to visit this beautiful park .

The campground was very clean and the sites are well spaced. The rangers who were working the weekend I was there were extremely helpful and courteous. I can’t wait to come back!

Blackwoods is a huge and classic National Park campground. We enjoyed it very much. Note that there are not showers (didn't bother us too much since we were only there for two nights). We especially loved the little trail down to the rugged coastline to watch the sunset - don't miss it! :)

The campground itself was nice. There is a bus stop there and trails that you can hike without having to drive any where. The worse part of our camping trip wasn't the campground, but the public shower house that was right down the road. It was 8 quarters for 4 minutes of water. There were two occasions during the week that both coin machines were down and we had to drive to bar harbor and use the coin machine in a laundry mat that we found. Even despite the shower house we had a great time and would definitely go back again. Although next time I would calculate out how many quarters we needed for the trip and take them with us.
