Not a fan of the reservationSystem requirements as it doesn't allow for last minute trips or walk ins to use sites that have had cancellations ...

I loved being right in Acadia National Park during our stay. The campground was awesomewalking distance to many trailheads and to an ocean lookout for stargazing at night. The sites weren't the most private Ive been to (you can see/hear camp neighbors) but every respected quiet times and all of our neighbors were very nice. The one-way car traffic on all roads made me feel really comfortable letting my kids bike around while we cooked meals and cleaned up.Bathrooms were clean and well-stocked with toilet paper - no paper towels or soap, so bring your own. There was electricity in the bathrooms so we could charge phones and there was a water pump at each bathhouse for refilling water bottles (no pumps at each site). No showers/hot water, but there was a pay-to-shower place right outside the campground. This is my preferred style of car camping - fewer amenities and rustic. If you would like to go somewhere with a pool and a camp store and hot showers, this isnt it. But I would 100% come back to Blackwoods because I like camping to feel rustic, to fetch water and get no cell service and spend the evening star gazing. If thats you too, then this is your spot! If you come with kids, check in at the ranger station and grab an Acadia Park Junior Ranger booklet. They are free and kept our kids busy during a few meals out in Bar Harbor.

Beautiful and secluded, this particular site was close to the cadillac mountain trail and an exceptionally beautiful jaunt to ocean cliffs. The size was perfect for our family of six and our behemoth vehicle and 10x14 tent.

The campsite and facilities were excellently maintained. We had a very positive experience.
