The campground was very clean and well maintained during my visit (prior to the govt shut down). You cannot beat the location - central to the best hikes and close to the coast. We will happily return here for future visits to Acadia!

I'm an artist and have enjoyed drawing and painting around Acadia NP for years. I've stayed in motels and other campgrounds before, but this was my first time in the National Park campground. I was amazed! What a gorgeous piece of property, so beautifully maintained, and only walking distance from the most magnificent views! Staff was courteous and helpful. My first night, I was in so awe with how dark the campground was and how incredible the starry sky was. I can't wait to come back!

I didn't think this campground was near as nice as Schoodic Woods. When we were departing Schoodic Woods and I mentioned we were going to stay the next night in Blackwoods, someone said "I'm sorry. " I realized what he meant after I arrived at Blackwoods. There were small thin trees between camp sites, but they did not provide much of a barrier or privacy. Lots of campsites also meant lots of human noise! Our site had a stump in the middle of the site that was cut down, but not enough that it didn't trip us every time we walked around the picnic table. I don't have really high standards for park bathrooms, but these were dirty with what appeared to be long standing cobwebs and dirt in the windows and on the window sills and dirt around the floor perimeter. there was a small shelf above the sinks, but otherwise no other place to put personal items. I went outside to put my stuff on the cement pad because the bathroom floor was so dirty. If I returned to Acadia, I would stay at Schoodic Woods which is newer, where nights are peaceful, campsites are private and bathrooms are clean. And as a bonus, views from Schoodic Peninsula toward Mount Desert Island and Schoodic Point are spectacular at sunset.

We had perfect weather during our Oct stay. Fall colors were beautiful. Trails were easily accessible right from our camp site.

Still our favorite campsite. Shortage of rangers was evident, but still clean in the restricted campsites
