All the people that work there and the Rangers were so friendly and we had some mishaps, but everybody was on the same page. Everything was explained to us and we had a wonderful time.

The location is great and the park is pretty. Just remember to bring a map or youll have to pay for one upon entering the park I feel as if maps should be given out so campers/park goers dont get lost. Another thing to note is the national park doesnt have a bathhouse/showers so make sure to bring quarters! I wish the bath house had real soap and paper towels. All the money that goes into parks I feel they could add these small accessories.

Blackwoods is simply the best. The location is why our group returns every year. We love being able to walk/hike/bike/run from the campsite to the park with ease. We often take the footpaths to Park Loop Road to watch the sunrise (highly recommend). The park rangers keep everything organized and amenities are satisfactory. There are showers across the street ($3 for 8 minutes) that are very well-maintained. Cell service is extremely limited but allows for a nice escape from a world where we are all too reachable.

We always have a great experience camping at Blackwoods Campground. It's dog friendly, close to hiking trails, and the town of Bar Harbor. Did I say it's dog friendly:)

The campsite was on the smaller size, but enough for us a family of 4. The grounds were quite. Lots of trailer campsite spots. We were close to the corner, it was easy to get out. The outside paid showers were conveniently located and clean. Firewoods was easily available on site and near the showers. The rangers were only available at the check in gates. They were most informative only if asked for help. We spoke to a ranger a few days before arrival. She gave us a ton of information. One of the trails she recommended was the Carriage Ways Im so glad, we spoke to her, because of which, we were prepared with our own bicycles from home to bike the Carriage ways. The ranger also mentioned about the 1st sunrise In the US is seen on Cadillac Mountain. She also mentioned that the Milky Way can be seen from the top of Cadillac Mountain on a clear night. We drove to the top at night and was super surprised that we were not the only people up there at night. I would recommend driving up the mountain slowly at nights as the road has many hairpin bends close to the cliff. It would be a good idea to see sunrise 1st, so you would be better prepared for the night drive. When driving up or down the mountain, a map or gps is a good way to know when the turns are coming up. We had a good trip and was able to pin point where Blackwood Campgrounds was from the top of Cadillac Mountain. There is a hiking trail from the campground to Cadillac Mountain if you are adventurous enough and time permits. The town Bar Habor was not too far from the campgrounds.
