The campground was clean and well maintained as were the bathrooms. We had fairly good internet service while there.

Fabulous campsite, plenty of room to pull in & out. Located right next to the bathroom & dumpster which was a huge plus. Site is a bit uneven so plan to bring some leveling blocks to put under your wheels. Short walk down to the ocean as well just follow the path within the campground. Campground is located close to many of the attractions in the greater park. There is also a 24/7 coin op shower house less than five minutes down the road and also has ice / wood available. Great campground all around!

The path to the Cove from the campground is very easy (bad knees) and is a great overlook. The drive up Cadillac Mountain is beautiful and just when you think it can not get better you reach the top with views too wide for words. We went mid-day so fog had lifted, just a little hazy.Be sure to explore the west side of Mt Desert Island and the smaller towns on SR 102/3. Great little no-frills places to get a fresh lobster roll and sit outside to enjoy Maine weather. At low tide you can walk out into harbor at Northeast Harbor.

Staff was very nice. Site was dark and beautiful. No showers though. You can hear the boat bells and the seagulls, which was nice! We took the trolley to Bar Harbor which was convenient.

Major Issues

Most pull thru sites are off level in both directions. We are familiar with problem and bring extra blocking material. First timers should be notified.

We loved this campground and Bar Harbor, 100 would recommend it. The sites are a good size with lots of trees, bathrooms are clean and it's beautiful. There are two bus routes from the campground so you can park your car and use the free busses to take you everywhere on the island. There are showers across from the front gates that are open 24/7 and quite nice. There is a small store/ restaurant just up the road with everything you need.
