The campground needs a bike trail to connect to the carriage roads without having to get onto a dangerous highway.

Ive been going to Acadia for over 50 years and staying in Blackwood. Great camp sites settle to many hiking in your areas and lots of activities.

Been going there for almost 30 years. Be careful sizing your camper sites. I could barely get my 20' er in last time. Must be understaffed because every year we see the place degrading. Sites don't get cleaned. Roads are being grown over. Still love it though. Very quiet except for the RV generators and the bagpipe player.

We enjoyed 13 nights in Blackwoods campground in our 21 travel trailer in August. Water is readily available to refill jugs at every bathroom and we made sure we filled the fresh water tank for showers & washing dishes. My favorite place just out of the campground was the trail leading to the coast where I sat everyday to watch the roaring tide changes & waves on the huge rocks below. Blackwoods is so conveniently located its just 15-30 min to get to Bsr Harbor, Cadillac Mt, NW or SW Harbor & Most anywhere in Acadia. There is also bus service so you could leave your vehicle at the campsite and go everywhere in the park. Another plus for us was that the garbage dumpsters were emptied daily and the bathrooms were kept up. We attended a fascinating campfire program presenting the history of Acadia. Always recommend attending Ranger Programs & Activities! We also took the narrated 3 + hr Historic & Scenic boat ride to the Cranberry Island's & got off on Isleford. Be sure to visit the church & see the seaglass stained glass panels. Its a real treat for seaglass collectors! Staying inside a National Park allows so many opportunities to fully immerse oneself in the nature and activities in the park. Blackwoods is one of our favorites campgrounds! We look forward to returning! My only criticism has to do with the reservation system & the monitoring of vacant sites due toNon arrivals. Something has to be done about people not cancelling a site they paid for thus leaving the site empty rather giving others the opportunity to enjoy it.

Wish we had visited sooner. We are already planning to return in the fall. The campground was impeccable and the staff helpful and pleasant. We are in love with Acadia.

Big enough for our F250 and 30ft camper. We had site A079 which is rated at 35ft max. . I was very concerned about the length of my rig and maneuvering into and out of the site. I have a crew cab F250 6.5ft bed (21ft) towing a 30ft travel trailer. Front to end of the trailer including hitch is 34 ft. There are not many resources out there with detailed pictures of this campground. I did find a 360 degree youtube video that showed a few rows and choose A079 based on that. In the end, site A079 worked just fine for use. Go slow and use walkie talkies to communicate to spotters. We were about to pull in and pull out with room to spare. As for parking, it was plenty long - probably had another 6 -8ft of parking length we didnt use. There were many sites I think I would have problems with. I saw one camper scrap the site of a tree when they arrived in the dark - so I advise to arrive in the daylight.
