Acadia National Park is several areas of coastline and forests on an island interspersed with small towns and private property. Blackwoods campground is centrally located on the east side of the island and close to many trails and the loop drive on that side of the park. You have to drive or bike to everything in the park. The campground was in a wooded area and the bathrooms were clean. The sites are close together with little privacy but thats any national park.

Campground is wonderful!!Reservation system is horrible!Have to wait till two months before youre going to be there, and try to get a site for the entire time youre going to stay. Even the Rangers say the system is terrible! We love Blackwoods but not the reservation system.

Beautiful campground. Helpful staff. Enjoyed great hikes along the legendary rocky Acadia NP coast.

Extremely well organized. Rangers were kind and professional. In fact, my wife and I had an emergency and after a phone cLl, they all chipped in to help. THANK YOU!!!

Most of the sites here are quite private and quiet, at least while we were there. The rain washed out our last day, but we can't blame that camp grounds for that.

Easy check in. Clean campsite & restrooms, convenient short walk to loop road for the shuttle. Enjoyed doing South Ridge hike from Cadillac Mountain to the camp!

Blackwoods campground is beautiful. We were able to stay one night. It is quite rustic, no hook ups for our camper. It’s located in a great location to begin the one-way loop through Acadia. We will go back once the summer crowds have moved on.

Acadia a fabulous place. We could walk down (1/2 mile?) to the rocks and water and see the stars.

Our site was really nice but be warned that there are some branches that hand down and could get in the way depending on the motorhome or trailer. We had just enough room for our Sprinter Class C and a small car. Make sure you buy firewood in the small store before your get to the turn in to Blackwoods.
