The campsite itself was clean and had a great area for the tent. Toilets were nearby. Your neighbors are fairly close so I would recommend being mindful early mornings/late nights. That being said, waking up early to get to hikes like Beehive are highly recommended. I got there at 7am (parked at Sand Beach) and it was a perfect amount of people. Hiked from Beehive to Gorham Mt, to ocean path, thunder hole, sand beach, great head, sand beach and back to the car all before 11am. Was so worth it. Also, recommend sunrise at Otter Cliffs if you want a free sunrise.

While large, the campsites felt intimate and water and restrooms were close by. We would go back!

The campground was great, the site was great, the restrooms were superb, but on the week of 4th of July there was no ranger talk. We love this aspect of staying in the park and were disappointed to find only an empty amphitheater.

While my two-night tent camping experience overall went well, the sites are too close together for my taste. When I was trying to go to sleep at 10 PM, the campers at the site next to me had a bonfire going, which lit up the inside of my tent well past 11 PM. They werent doing anything wrong the fire was normal size but the sites are so close that the light was intrusive. The setting is beautiful with near solid evergreen tree cover (balsam fir?), but the canopy is so dense that there is almost no under growth/shrub layer. This gives you wide open views into other campsites. Cell coverage on AT&T was OK but not strong. The site was clean and the campground was well maintained. Maybe this sort of camping experience is more normal on the East Coast, but here in the Midwest I am used to more private tent sites.

Acadia in early September is still crowded, but not overrun. We stayed at Blackwoods, in a tent site. They are nice sites, with flat tent pads and a fire ring. The site is wooded but you still are close to other sites and the tree trunks do not interfere with visual contact. Lots of good hikes right from Blackwoods, including South Ridge of Cadillac Mt. An easy drive into Bar Harbor for shopping/meals if that interests you.

Distance between sites is little bit short but trees are awesome and site is good.
