Blackwoods is a solid National Park Campground with spacious sites and a decent amount of privacy. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but quite out-dated. Id like to see the restrooms equipped with soap and hand drying options. Water was good, but pretty far from our site. The location is great with good access to trails and the shore form the campground and other major hikes within a short drive. The campground is a stop for the Island Explorer shuttle which is convenient. There are no on-site showers. The private shower place near the entrance works, but is a bit of a rip off. Tip: walk down the path 10mins or so to where the otter creek runs into the ocean. There are great sky views and youll have it to yourself!

Great campground with access to several trails, no evening programs in June when I stayed.

Camped in B loop for a week in September 2019. My wife and I had a great experience. We do not typically stay in campgrounds because we enjoy solitude and quiet. But we wanted to explore Acadia, and on MDI, more isolated campsites don't exist. We found our neighbors to be be quiet and respectful. Unlike the campgrounds I grew up visiting, there were no screaming children or drunken voices at neighboring sites, although going in the fall probably helped. B loop does not allow generators which was also great. The sites are much closer together than I would prefer, but with good neighbors, its bearable. The bathrooms are clean. The private shower house right outside the campground entrance is excellent. The campground is wooded, yet we were able to keep our battery charged until the 5th day with solar on our truck camper roof. Not a totally full charge each day, but enough. You can walk from A loop right down to the ocean. The views are stunning. We walked down after a rain storm, the crowds cleared out, and we saw a rainbow and dolphins jumping on the horizon. No joke, right out of a story book. We will be back.
